My son works at Whole Foods. We are high risk, and he lives with us. He’s been off schedule for the past 2 weeks as we’ve tried to figure out what to do. I’ve told him I don’t think it’s worth it to go back.

We are in the SF Bay area, and rents are exorbitant. He absolutely cannot work there and live with us.

perfect .... one of three things are going to happen:

1. the strike fails

2. the strike succeeds and the strikers are replaced by a few of the hundreds of thousands out of work

3. the strike succeeds, workers are not replaced, and Whole Foods loses permanent market share as shoppers permanently shift to more affordable options ...

Poison pill in $2,000,000,000,000 relief package is on full display. Take your pick, Cloward and Piven or Rules of Radicals. Overwhelm a system until it collapses.

We have 2 HEBs in our town and the employees, management included have been wonderful!

Their Cust Service area has plastic (?) panel up so if a customer is sick the employee doesn’t get coughed upon. And vice versa, I would guess. LOL

We also have 2 Super Center Walmarts, a regular Walmart and several Neighborhood Walmart stores and their staff have also been just fantastic.

If Air Traffic Controllers can be replaced, so can grocery clerks

Meanwhile, Bernie Sanders calls on Instacart to strike...a service that is helping many elderly and vulnerable to obtain grocery delivery at home

Not sure. I went to my local HEB yesterday and they have their process for this in place. I was very comfortable shopping there.

“Whole Worker, the national worker group that is organizing the “sick out””

I wonder which social justice “community agitator” is behind this little project.

>>and hazard pay of double the current hourly wage for employees who show up to work during the pandemic.

they should share their hazard bonus with those in the National Guard, Fire dpt., and Police dpt.

Amazon delivery drivers are doing the same; looks like it was coordinated to prevent the Whole Foods inventory from being shifted over to Amazon’s “Prime Pantry” delivery.

HEB in Texas increased all hourly staffs hourly wage by $2 per hour to share some of the profits and they will pay 100% wages for anyone who contacts the virus as long as they are off work.

“Now what will the foodie snobs do?”

Better yet - bring in the government to run that store (I like the ring of having homeless people work there) and soon they might as well buy everything from Walmart.

My 17 year old son a part time cook at the local Sonic was given a letter to carry in his car yesterday from Sonic that he is considered an essential employee and can travel if necessary back and forth to work.

They should go for it. Bezos doesn’t play these games.

Listening to Seb Gorka right now and he said something very interesting.

Trump’s Dept. of Homeland Security has rolled out a list of economically essential occupations, and apparently it is pages and pages long. It apparently includes gun shops and gun producers. Tommy the Commie Wolf here in PA will be forced to roll back big parts of his shutdown if this is correct.

Has Trump just played Fauci? Give him a big fancy presser agreeing to his shutdown and then quietly cutting the legs from under it behind the scenes?

Here is my concern...people are getting paid more for being unemployed versus employed...the Joe’s of the world see it and get angry for having to work while others are paid more not working. I promise you will see uprisings of those having to still work... I am already hearing discussions and complaints.

Especially from the state, local and federal government employees who still receive their full pay and benefits (including unbroken retirement length of service) when they complain (as I am beginning to hear) they are not eligible to apply for unemployment (although it is good reason for a increasingly rare smile).

I went to TJ,s last week to pick up a few items. I waited like you, and the store was well stocked. I put two lbs of the pre packaged ground beef in the cart. Immediately from nowhere came a store monitor who forcefully told me the limit was 1 and to put one back. I felt like they treated me as a hoarder. The only sign said some items have limit amount...please see store employees if you have questions. The grind beef packages were three rows of three deep...probably 200 packages. I didn’t think two packages was excessive but did what I was told. The last two aisles is the wine section. People were packing 6,10, case to several cases of wine...no restrictions. When I got through check out I had left my TJ cloth refrigerated bag in the cart. I was told that because I brought my own bag, I’d have to bag my own items. If they bagged id have to buy a new bag. I bagged them and left the store to a long line in front of exit door. To get to your car you have to enter someone’s 6 foo zone. They were mostly mask people and bitched that I quickly excused myself by entering their space to get to the parking lot. Not a good TJ experience.

We are facing a similar quandry...son works at the shipyard...zero cleaning ability there and zero precautions taken. They are all on liberal leave. You come in you get paid. He lives with us but my husband has diabetes and we are concerned. We have asked him to keep a mask on if he is in with us. He is limited in where he spends his time in our house and we have tried to set him up as best we can. not easy...
