ADA COUNTY, Idaho (CBS2) — The Central District Health Department is reporting the first coronavirus-related death in Ada County.
Central District Health says the person was over the age of 60, and had pre-existing health issues. The department is not providing other information about the person.

Louisiana Department of Health Updates for 3/28/2020

The Louisiana Department of Health has updated its website to reflect the latest number of positives and will continue to update its website at noon each day.
As of noon on March 28, the Department reported 569 additional cases since yesterday, bringing the total to 3,315 positive cases.
Hospitalization
Yesterday, 773 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized. Of those, 270 required ventilation. Today, 927 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized. Of those, 336 require ventilation.
Nursing homes/independent living/assisted living facilities
The Department of Health has identified COVID-19 clusters in 11 nursing homes/independent living/assisted living facilities in the state: Chateau De Notre Dame; Chateau D’Ville; Chateau St. James; Good Samaritan, New Orleans; Lambeth House; Luling Living Center; Nouveau Marc; River Palms Nursing and Rehab; St. James Place; St. Joseph of Harahan; and Vista Shores.
A cluster is identified as two or more cases that appear to be connected.
Because of the sheer volume of cases, we will be sharing the updated number of clusters every day at noon. We will rely on facilities for reporting on the most-up-to-date information. The fact that someone has died at a nursing home/independent living/assisted living facility has less to do with the facility and more to do with the individual.
The Department continues to work with nursing homes to minimize the spread of the illness and protect residents and staff.
Deaths
The Department reports an additional 18 deaths since yesterday, bringing the total to 137 deaths. Deaths are listed on the LDH dashboard by parish under the by parish tab and information by age can be found on the by age group tab.

The eight-county Houston region now has 656 cases, according to the Chronicle's data analysis. The state is up to more than 2,254.
12:50 p.m. The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Houston more than tripled Saturday, jumping from 69 to 232 as testing capability uncovers previously undetected cases, Mayor Sylvester Turner announced.
"Let me just say, the testing has been limited. We know there are more cases," Turner said. "The way I look at it, I take 232 and I multiply by 10. Because we just don’t know."
The new number includes three Houston police officers, bringing the total number in the department to seven.
One other death, involving a woman in her 70s who was hospitalized at the time, has been attributed to the disease in the city. The woman's positive test came back the same day she died.
Dr. David Persse, the city’s medical authority, said the large jump is because officials have to reconcile reports coming in from various sites. They want to make sure they're not duplicating people, ensuring they have an accurate count.
"The numbers give you some degree of what's taking place, but... the numbers are very fluid," Turner said, adding that will be the case for several weeks.

Omaha realtor is first COVID-19 related death in Nebraska; restrictions tightened in more counties
Ralph Marasco, a longtime realtor in Omaha, died from what was initially thought to be heart disease, his son Nico Marasco wrote in a Facebook post, but was later determined to be the coronavirus.
Nico Marasco urged others who may have had contact with his dad to follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and self-quarantine for 14 days.
The state announced its first two confirmed deaths from COVID-19 on Friday. In Hall County, a woman described as being in her 60s with underlying health conditions, became Nebraska’s second death in the global pandemic, health officials said.

There is an ongoing outbreak of respiratory illness caused by a new type of coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). There are a number of cases globally including the United States. On February 26th, the CDC confirmed a possible instance of community spread in the United States.
