Also, if asymptomatic people are carrying a slightly mutated, less-virulent virus (and that is why they are asymptomatic), we are preventing the spread of the “lesser evil” virus, which is one of the main ways viruses tend to peter out over time, as the mutated versions that don’t debilitate their hosts get spread around, while the ones that DO sideline their hosts get stuck in hospital beds and die off.

Most of the deaths are old people, usually with other serious medical conditions.
If you assume that 480,000 old people will die of this, and that NONE of them were going to die anyway this year, you will increase the death total this year to 2.3 million.
But then, that’s 500,000 less people to die in the following years, so the death count will go down for a while. We were ALL going to die eventually. And while I want to fully test and treat every old person who needs it, there is a truth that an 85-year-old living in a full-care nursing home who dies is not considered as tragic as an 11-year-old killed in a helicopter crash.
1.8 million people over age 70 die every year, and the only ones you know about are your friends/family/relatives, and famous people. It isn’t news.
The scaremongers are 480,000 times worse than Q people in every possible way.

I don’t disagree with your gist about the over blowing of the illness. I’m just referencing why the countries the media is using to try to “chicken little” everyone.
According to Wikipedia, In Italy there are around 7 nurses and 17 hospital beds for every 10K in people. Not a good emergency capacity. So extreme illnesses are harder to treat with less capacity, Not a put down, it’s just numbers.
Iran was too politically involved with itself to properly handle the illness. Here is a good article on what happened their. But again, it was lack of preparation and emergency services. And they are fuse with China at the hip.

In a 2018 article it states that Iran spends about 7% of its GDP each year on health services and has an estimated 954 hospitals, 3,700 clinics and 6,400 rehabilitation centers. About 60% of Iran’s hospitals are state controlled with the remainder run by private companies or non-governmental organizations, including charities.
Not sure anyone outside of the “insiders” in each country will get the total information as both are willing to lie to protect themselves. Your guess is as good as mine. But this is what I could find.
