I’m really curious about bluebird houses.
I’m really curious about bluebird houses. My friend in California made friends with a bluebird. He would come every evening around 5:30, and he got to where he’d sit on her finger.
They moved to a new house about 3 miles away, and she told me blue would find her. I thought she was nuts, but he did find her. He’d even go in her house if the door was open.
The did a story on her and blue in the local paper, used a picture I took of her with blue on her finger.
Google how to build a bluebird house. Space is
Under the hole which must be exactly the size of a quarter. Any larger other birds will take over the nest. The also need to face a certain direction and be a certain height above ground. Search Blue bird trail.
Also available through Audubon society and Amazon We buy ours at a local farm market because I like the carpenters work and price. Get one that has Easy clean out method becaus they must be cleaned completely out during winter every year or so.
I believe Audubon has a booklet just dedicated to Bluebirds. Worth the price/donation
