it’s also ebay, walmart, target kohls...

I could go on.

many places don’t give you a choice (ebay sometimes does depending on the seller)

“the drivers are no longer allowed to use reverse”

too many backing accidents,ATT and UPS have the same policy or similar.

Can you create a loop of some type or just build a big wether proof wooden box for the end of the drive, next to the regular box, label it US Mail pkgs

I will also say that USPS is lying to amazon on those packages (I dropped prime over this) saying my mail box is full..

the last time that happened I went down and photo’d my mail box, empty with fresh snow and no tire tracks anywhere near it.

amazon finely agreed that they did not even try to deliver.

Had similar rural delivery problems. With Amazon and others the post office is having to fill gaps it was not used to doing.

Talked to the post master at my local PO and asked what I could do to make easier for them and myself. They were very helpful... better than trying to communicate with Amazon

Postal regulations require an approved box and key type for delivery.
US Mail is protected unlike UPS, FedEx etc.

Getting Amazon to stop delivering thru Post Office doesn’t seem to work.

I even typed “Do not mail USPS to this address” then listed my address in the same line and Amazon and others just ship it and don’t care about the difference between mailing and delivery addresses

Approved US Postal boxes can be a bit pricey but getting a single box is not bad. I had to have a place they could pull off the road safely and was already on their route.

Amazon, UPS etc usually can’t share same box if keyed for post office

I have also made friends with my regular mail carrier (and her substitutes).., cookies, dark chocolate covered almonds ha, ha. ..and have better service because of that too.

Have found all of the people there to be good folks.

Often, you can find the old "Postal Relay Boxes" at a decent price, and get a copy key made for the local carrier, using a magnetic holder under the box's bottom, and you have the main key.

My carrier has been great, however, they use the little scanning device to GPS track them. So they (Management) know when he goes up someones driveway, and when he goes backwards.

I don’t want the guy to lose his job over it.

I have adjusted where I get what I need. I do a lot of car stuff (Used car guy) and ordering parts from amazon was always simple/easy.

now I am using rock auto more and more. At least there I can select who is bringing it to me.

I did cancel prime and told them “USPS won’t deliver here and that is who you keep sending”

well that and grand tour seems to have fizzled.

Everybody has a boss. Find out which “hub” they answer to and make a call. I’ve done it and it works. Mail delivery is a service that you pay for. They aren’t allowed to make receiving mail difficult.

Put in a dbl-space gravel parking pad that the carrier can use to do a 3-point turnaround, and simply drive out in ‘D’.

I didn’t think you could even get one of those.

I guess I’ll have to keep an eye out for one.

You can construct a box large enough to hold the packages you're likely to get.

When you're expecting a package, leave an open lock on the latch.

Leave a note for the MM on the box. "Put the package in box and lock the box".

Those are good, but sometimes this guy likes to hide in there.

it’s a company policy. they can’t use reverse.

To loop my drive way would require removing 15/20 trees and a whole lot of dirt work.

I like the trees because you can’t see my house from the road.

rural neighbor had a J Deere that size and he ran a trac repair bus out of the farm.
Held everything, could put a med size dog in it.

Yeah the real problem is Amazon. I have a farm in California foothills and need stuff constantly that I can’t get locally.

Good luck friend

I go for the PO Box. You don’t have to go every day. Only send packages there. You can still get your regular mail to your home box.

They will text you when a package shows up. Go at your liesure.

Your long driveway is a liability. Plain and simple.

Can you build a large box and have them leave it there?

The post office has been effectively bought out by FedEx/UPS and the others over the years. Years of steady wining, dining, and bribing of members the USPS’s board of governors has left them delivering only the packages no one else wants to deliver, to the addresses no one else wants to serve. New employees make minimum wage, and get lower-tier benefits than the employees who have survived the organization’s restructurings and other cost-cutting efforts.
