Thank you.
You’re welcome. Happy Saturday! My choir practice has been moved up to 10:30, so I’ll be boogie-ing off on the day at 10:00, along with some young brothers who will be needed later in the day.
“Bring a book!”
I hope everyone is having a lovely Saturday. Vlad won the homeschool association Geography Bee again. There were 20 competitors this year; last year there were 10. Frank, in his first effort, made it to the final 10 and was eliminated with two others in positions 6-7-8.
Patting myself on the back at the demonstrated success of an educational system that features a lot of, “Go learn something, kid!”
Yayyy, T-c, Vlad and Frank!!!
Thank you. State competition is in late March, the same week as the regional Envirothon, but not the same day. Whew.
Are the Geography Bee, Envirothons and other competitions compulsory, strongly advised, or what?
Good job on homeschooling young peeps to the extent that they can compete in many things and win, place or show. And congratulations to the boys for paying attention in class! Excellent job all around!
:o])
Envirothon is compulsory. Geography Bee was “advised” for Vlad last year; of course, after winning, he didn’t need to be nudged again. I signed Frank up and said, “You’re coming to this.” I’m sure he’ll be enthusiastic next year after doing so well.
I don’t give them study assignments for geography, just remind them, if they’re at loose ends, that they could go look at a map or do a quiz.
Envirothon is different, more of a class, with meetings and assignments, and a commitment to your team to give it your best effort.
What a sweet floof.
Good morning.
I hope your day is a good one, today, and that you’re adjusting to Tom having moved out. I know what a big adjustment that is.
How far does he live from you?
Tom lives about 15 minutes away ... 3 or 4 miles. He and his roommate were here yesterday afternoon when I got home from the GeoBee with Vlad and Frank. Tom was writing a thank-you note to his grandmother, and Tucker was filling out some forms regarding their county water service.
“I can’t do any more of this here,” said Tucker. “We need to go home and see if the lawn has a sub-surface sprinkler system!” Ah, adulthood!
Tom said he’ll let me know if they need additional cooking pots or other household stuff. I said we’d get him a few things once they figure out what came with the house and what they’ll want to use.
Meanwhile, Shannon is enjoying the empty room!
Yard sales and thrift stores are great places to find cook- and bakeware. I found a lot of stuff at yard sales, some of which I still have.
The rest however, I bought when the cost of living wasn’t so outrageous and I was able to have a little money left over at the end of payday. Now, not so much.
Yes, adulting takes concentration and paying attention to detail! And monetary expertise. But don’t get me started! :o] Good luck to Tom and his roommates!
Good for Shannon having her own room! Temporarily.
She has a very fine sunbeam today.
We should all have a fine Sunbean today, but I think mine may be hit and miss. It seems strange to not be getting ready for church, yet... Another 35 minutes and I will.
I’m going to go out and take a photo of the front end of the truck. Poor thing.
My niece told me that geography is no longer taught in public schools. Whiskey tango Halifax? They don’t learn cursive, either.
Thank you.
Everybody should learn cursive. How else can you properly express your emotional state?
So since cursive is no longer taught, then us old folks can attack at dawn! (Read this in cursive, please!)
