Not sure about Singapore but in some locals... The penalty for drinking and driving is death.

Isn’t that a hanging offense in Singapore? Well, pretty much everything is, or, at the very least a caning event.

Isn’t spitting your gum out a pretty serious crime in Singapore? That might be a myth. But I assume it’s like anything else; money gets you out of certain crimes over there.

Apparently they cane them, put them in jail for a bit ,then deport them.
SINGAPORE A Singapore court today ordered 10 Indian illegal immigrants caned and jailed in the first such sentencing under a tough new immigration law. The 10 pleaded guilty to overstaying in Singapore for up to a year and, in one case, to having entered the country illegally, immigration officials said
. They were each sentenced to three strokes of the cane and to jail terms of between three and eight months. The law, which went into effect April 1, prompted about 10,000 illegal Thai workers to leave Singapore in the two weeks before it was implemented.
Illegal immigration is seen as a a grave social and security problem.

I have to check: Does anyone but her family give a shit about Clooneys SIL?
Answer: Not really.
To: ImJustAnotherOkie
I agree. Clooney has nothing to do with this other than her being an in law. Just curious what will happen.
