This is the biggest problem I have with fathers who openly talk about threatening daughter’s boyfriends. It’s crazy and irresponsible.

No nasty attitude intended. I was trying to point out how these “red flag” laws empower the unlicensed and untrained to make clinical assessments. It is wrong to put a person in that position.
There are procedures in place that already allow for a person to be committed -if- the courts find that person either incompetent or a danger.
You forgot the “mind your own business” option.
