I think you got it wrong.
Though enslaved, the people have the rights. They just are denied them and are unable to exercise them.
The RIGHTS remain and forever will. We don't fight for the RIGHTS, but for the ability to exercise them.
An example.
If somebody says we can't party, then we must fight.
For the right.
To party.
We always had the right. Now we have to fight for the right.
This is a philosophical but fundamental and important distinction.
It justifies rebellion and resistance to tyranny.

I think I see why we disagree.
Imo, the ability to exercise the function *is* the right. Not simple knowledge that there is a function that can be exercised by some others.
You don’t have the right to party unless you are able to party. Simply being aware that such a thing as a party exists does not mean you have that right.

Each individual has personal interests. His own life, his own liberty, and his own pursuit of happiness. Governments are instituted to protect these personal rights, and when governments suck at that, then the people have the duty to replace or modify the government.
