Doesn’t matter. He had the ability to walk away, outside, and call the cops, if what you said happened. This is so far from Stand Your Ground, it couldn’t be any farther. The perp went outside and came back in.

Times like these I see President Lincoln failed miserably in the freed slave question of where they should go. Frederick Douglas was the extreme exception to the rule. The DNC has developed a grand segment of a demographic into third world barbarians.

Impossible, guns aren't allowed on Waffle House property. I've seen the signs myself.

” At one point, Hicks left the Waffle House and retrieved a 9mm Glock pistol, which was later recovered at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.”

Once he disengaged there was no threat. He chose to return, armed, to renew the confrontation.

If I go to Waffle House, which usually is if I get up very early to go hunting or fishing, I never fail to take Sam Colt with me.

There are many reasons.

Danegeld, by Kipling

It is always a temptation to an armed and agile nation
To call upon a neighbour and to say: —
“We invaded you last night—we are quite prepared to fight,
Unless you pay us cash to go away.”

And that is called asking for Dane-geld,
And the people who ask it explain
That you’ve only to pay ‘em the Dane-geld
And then you’ll get rid of the Dane!

It is always a temptation for a rich and lazy nation,
To puff and look important and to say: —
“Though we know we should defeat you, we have not the time to meet you.
We will therefore pay you cash to go away.”

And that is called paying the Dane-geld;
But we’ve proved it again and again,
That if once you have paid him the Dane-geld
You never get rid of the Dane.

It is wrong to put temptation in the path of any nation,
For fear they should succumb and go astray;
So when you are requested to pay up or be molested,
You will find it better policy to say: —

“We never pay any-one Dane-geld,
No matter how trifling the cost;
For the end of that game is oppression and shame,
And the nation that pays it is lost!”

Sounds like a friend of mine when I moved to Arizona 40 years ago. "How can you feel safe there with all of those rattlesnakes and scorpions all over the place?

I lived in Arizona for 50 years and never saw one rattlesnake or scorpion.

I've lived in Florida for ten years now and people like you seem to think that Florida is going to hell in a hand basket

Even though I have been to the Waffle House in this story (it is 35 miles away in the big city), I don't notice crime any worse here than in another places.

We live in the country, but most big cities have crime like this story. Shootings, robberies, drugs, etc.

I wouldn't pin it just on Florida. Ever hear of Chicago? Baltimore? Detroit? Oakland? Miami?

I think it is a sign of the times. Breakdown of morals, families, religion, behavior.

I don't see it affecting me here on my farm. But then, that's why I moved out of the city and to a rural area to escape the violence. I managed to do that but the violence is still in society. Just not out here on the farm.

I wouldn't agree about it avalanching into hell here. But violence is pervasive in the country's urban culture and not just in Florida.

I lived in Texas for a decade and fished scorpions out of the pool all the time. I saw a few rattlers also.

Exactly right. That is the deeply ingrained entitlement and resentment mentality we have created and nurtured in the underclass, isn’t it? “I’m not getting my free sh1t...Ima gunna kill sumbody.”

Should have handed out scholarships.

But that can backfire too. Maybe donations to the Human Fund. Nothing can go wrong there.

Margaret Sanger was never right. Abortion is not the solution to the loss of the moral value of life but the cause of it. Abortion destroys the souls of those who participate in it. The poison of these dead souls in society leads to greater immorality that destroys more souls and so on. These dead souls do not value other people’s lives except in what the other person can do for them.

We are dying as a society because to many even in the pro-life camp can entertain the notion that abortion is OK so long as only the sort of people they don’t like or disagree with do it. All lives are precious, even the so-called “ferals”. They are “feral” because they have been infected with the notion that only some lives are valuable. Where do they get that notion? From living in a community where abortion is considered normal and acceptable.
