Subject: Out-of-town pool report #3
Motorcade arrived at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids at 6:49 p.m. Crowds lined the motorcade route and waved as we passed. Lots of the spectators were wearing red MAGA hats. One protester held up a sign that read: “#Not Welcome Here.”
We are now in the arena and waiting for POTUS to begin speaking. A large American flag is set up behind the stage. On each side of it are large red signs that proclaim: “Jobs! Jobs! Jobs!” The arena appears filled to capacity.
The usual warm-up music is playing over the loudspeakers: The Rolling Stones “Time Is On My Side.” Elton John ’s “Candle In the Wind.” Tina Turner ’s “Simply the Best.”
The speech is open press and will be aired on C-SPAN.
