However, consuming refined processed sugars, like table sugar or the equivalence found in most modern processed foods in the western diet, let alone soda pop is a pure TOXIN.

It is interesting how the word toxin has become so overused that it now means basically anything the speaker wants it to. I worked for many years as the leader of a Hazmat team. I worked with a lot of very unpleasant “toxins” over the years. From my perspective it is laughable to call “refined sugar” a “toxin”.

Obviously it is healthier to have a diet that is higher in nutritional whole foods. And it is healthier to get much more exercise than most people do in our society. I can guarantee that a lean cyclist who rides their bicycle 40 miles a day and drinks a gallon of Gatorade or Kool Aid to help maintain their blood sugar level on the ride, is likely to be far healthier than a couch potato who eats no refined sugar and nothing but the healthiest whole foods,.

Good grief. Carbohydrates are sugars. They all end up at the same level of the Krebs cycle as 6 carbon fragments. It's crazy to think that Phelps was damaging his body by consuming the macro nutrients that provided the energy to propel him to becoming one of the best athletes in history.

Maybe you never heard of Paraclesus. He's the father of modern toxicology. He said, All things are poisons, for there is nothing without poison. It is only the dose which makes a thing poison.

So, again, it is meaningless to say something is toxic without understanding what that means. You're claiming that water is toxic, and because it is toxic, it does damage to your body. You should stop consuming water, or any beverage that uses water. Let me know how that works out for you. Before you expire, that is.

The chemical structure of processed sugar is identical to the sugar found naturally in food. So by your standard, eating fruits and vegetables is bad for your heart. Just think of all that inflammation! You guys willingly believe some truly wacky stuff when the subject turns to food.

I love how people pounce when you've entered their wheelhouse. Well biochemistry is above my pay grade, but I don't actually see the glucose in the citric acid cycle. I see the ADP-ATP in the pyruvate branch. I can tell already that can break that down for me though.

When people are starving and they've spent their glycogen (sp?) stores, where do they get their energy at the cellular level?

Thanks, I’ll try that. I take lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide for high blood pressure. I could also stand to loose a pound or two.

I have a friend who is an expert statistician. He says he can 'prove' - cite statistically significant data - that eating salad ‘increases risk of dying young from stroke and heart attack’.

His 'proof'? Take a sample of any lunch buffet line. The majority of people in the salad line are over weight. These are the ones with ‘increased risk of dying young from stroke and heart attack’.

Whoo..glad I switched to Diet Pepsi! But seriously, my grandmother has been chugged copious amounts of TAB Cola (yeah disgusting) since before I was born (at least the late 1960's), (I think the local Kroger special orders it for her these days) and she's still going strong at 94. So it couldn't be too bad for you....

Lou: You gonna order something, kid?
Marty McFly: Ah, yeah... Give me a Tab.
Lou: Tab? I can't give you a tab unless you order something.
Marty McFly: Alright, give me a Pepsi Free.
Lou: You want a Pepsi, PAL, you're gonna pay for it.

“The fake sugar is literally (using the word correctly) poison. It may be slow acting. But it’s actively harming you.”

AFAIK, no study has yet managed to definitively, prove any causal relationship between artificial sweetener consumption and any disease or disorder. The best they’ve managed are studies like this that have found correlations, and only weak ones at that.

Go with that if you want to. They are neurotoxic though, so it’s a risk. Sugar is far less toxic.

There is NO stronger link between diet and heart disease than sugar consumption, not a damn one...

Source?

I will, thanks. As to “neurotoxic” - says who? My brain still seems to work fine after nearly 30 years of consuming artificially sweetened soft drinks, in quantities comparable to Donald Trump.
