Regarding:
  1. Meanwhile, Samsung's spectacular $2000 phone will fail.
  2. A large number of mobile phones manufactured in China will drop off the face of the US market (because they're undifferentiated and/or they are junk).

Regarding:
  1. Apple, Inc. will introduce its first A-chip based MacOS product(s?) and an updated iPhone SE, both of which will sell well. The new model AirPods will be intro'd, will do okay, leading to a large, reasonably priced aftermarket for the original model.
Apple Pencil 1 support, mostly laminated screens, A12 CPU -- iOS support through 15? The iPad Air went from an A8 to A12. The Tailosive guy is a little abrasive, don't snowflake out on me. He does a good job at features breakdown, pros and cons.

I liked the book, the sequel and the movie.

Oh, I enjoyed the movie, just not in the way that had probably been intended.

  1. SpaceX will launch humans into space for the first time -- aboard a Falcon 9 -- and dock with the ISS. The Falcon Heavy will be launched two or three times during 2019. The "hopper" version of the SpaceX "Starship" will begin testing in the last third of 2019.

The rush to market remains mystifying. Apple's update to the iPad Mini in response to the folding phone designs looks better by the day.

The big splash for folding phones dissipated rapidly due to, uh, some issues.

The big story right now is the One Plus 7 Pro — an Android phone, but the OS is OxygenOS, developed by and for OnePlus.

Dave2D did an on-camera submergence test, and at least one other YT’er did so as well. The screen-side camera is on a pop-up, and Dave tested it after the water, no problem. I think that’s nice to know, but most people *probably* won’t be submerging a $600+ phone just for testing.

No wireless charging, but, uh, I’m not sure why anyone would give a **** about that. Comes with a nice fast charger brick, I think it’s a USB-C connector. 4000mah battery, but the faster refresh eats up batt time.

The refresh speed on the screen is what’s creating a lot of smiles. The YT’ers most associated with iPhones have been ebullient about this phone, btw. Couple of examples:

Apple issued a recall on certain MacBook pro models because batteries may catch fire. The recall affects 15 inch MacBook pro sold between September 2015 and February 2017. The recall seems limited to the older generation of the MacBook Pro and not the recent models with the USB C or the touch bar. 13 inch MacBook Pros are not at risk according to Apple.

Google is leaving the tablet business. The company's senior VP of devices and services, Rick Osterloh, tweeted the following: "Google's hardware team will be solely focused on building laptops moving forward, but make no mistake, Android & Chrome OS teams are 100% committed for the long-run on working with our partners on tablets for all setments of the market (consumer, enterprise, edu) On working with our partners on tablets for all segments. Reports say that Google is abandoning two tablets that were under development. The US Senate Banking Committee announced that it will hold a hearing on Facebook's new cryptocurrency, Libra. The hearing is scheduled for July 16th and will also look Into data privacy consideration. At this time witnesses have not been disclosed. Earlier this week Facebook and and partners announced Libra in new payment system in this blockchain which will roll out next year.

Apple's getting ready to move production out of China, and Foxconn (the company that OEMs a number of Apple's products, including the iPhone) has said no problem. Production will probably move to Vietnam. These are sidebars to #22.

  1. Miss. Wall not completed.
  2. Hit. Legal challenges (actually 'legal' challenges) to the wall have failed.
  3. Hit. Year's not over, but impeachment has clearly failed. The partisan media shills believed that the 2018 election would result in the Demagogic Party in control of the House, and it would lead inevitably to a coup d'etat.
  4. Miss. The shutdown was brief.
  5. Hit. Big hit! President Trump's popularity continues to grow as more of the wall has gone up. That's not the entire reason, but the gains made by so many millions in terms of steady employment and lower taxes (both due to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, and to the trade war) are threatened by illegal immigration.
  6. Hit. President Trump has refused to send US troops or other aid to Venezuela
  7. Partial hit. There hasn't been a civil war in Venezuela, merely continued oppression by the dictator -- but Iran and Russia have continued to involve themselves in Venezuelan affairs.
  8. Miss. President Trump has not removed all US troops from Afghanistan, Iraq, and/or Syria, but has been conscientious in conduct of those wars.
  9. Not sure. My poor old computer won't show me the results of the search. Six embassies moved to Jerusalem? Not sure. The left wing non-news sources appear to say this has been a failure, but all of them are bigoted shills.
  10. Miss. I don't think Duterte has made an official visit here.
  11. Not sure. The witch hunt against PM Netanyahu is ongoing, and the first two rounds of election have been inconclusive, but a third round is coming.
  12. Hit. The Three Amigos continue to act as occupying powers in the failed state of Syria. FReepers in Name Only hardest hit!
  13. Hit. Morsi prevailed.
  14. Hit. Macron hasn't stepped down, and the Yellow Vest protests continue.
  15. Uh, dunno. I don't think any major national leaders have died in unrelated, separate plane crashes in 2019. Odds were good, maybe it happened.
  16. MH370 has still not been located, but there were at least a couple of conflicting claims as to its one and only crash site.
  17. Partial hit. There have been a bunch of F9 launches, but no humans to orbit aboard SpaceX or any other US-built spacecraft. There have been three total FH launches, and there was only one in 2018 if memory serves, so there must have been two in 2019. The hopper version of the "Starship" has taken off and landed once.
  18. Hit. But she's about to be forced out of the race.
  19. Hit. The price of crude has remained low and supply has been high. Efforts by OPEC to shrink production to force up the price have failed. Fracking works.
  20. Partial hit. GE and F have not made any spectacular gains, although well, maybe by percentage off their 52-week lows look pretty good to traders, just not to the buy-and-holders who rode both all the way down.
  21. Hit. Electric vehicles remain a small fraction of all vehicles on the road, but even here in Michigan I've seen a Tesla Model 3 and another Tesla model I didn't have time to figure out, and at least two of the Meijer filling stations (one in Walker, one in Cascade, both are on the outskirts of the metro area and next to the freeways) have a bunch of Tesla charging stations.
  22. Partial hit. Apple hasn't introduced any A-chip-based MacOS products, and hasn't rolled out the rumored upgraded iPhone SE. The new model AirPods are the big Christmas shopping season hit, and the AirPod design has been widely knocked off. Wireless earbuds are available from lots of manufacturers.
  23. Hit. Samsung pulled the plug.
  24. Partial hit. Chinese mobile phone brands have been caught in the trade war crossfire. While many Chinese electronics are indeed junk (and sold online anyway), Chinese-made phones are mostly top of the line.
  25. Hit. Netflix has had a very good year, even in the face of new competition. The head of Netflix made his step-back speech, saying they were in the business of entertainment, not the business of speaking truth to power. I'll believe him when they throw Obama off the top of their HQ like in that scene in the original RoboCop.
  26. Hit. Google's pay to view model for YouTube has failed, but their new TOS goes into effect in December. I haven't read it yet, that's how I roll. YouTube content providers are being systematically demonetized, YT hasn't got a coherent policy on paid ads (and they're intrusive, hasn't anyone at the company watched broadcast TV sometime in their lives?), and they ALWAYS push leftist BS to the top of their "recommended" hits when I surf it using Roku. If it gets to the point where I'm required to sign in, I'm sure any filters I apply to what I want to see will be ignored as YT continues to push leftist BS.
  27. Miss. Jack is still with Twitter. He should get the same treatment as suggested for Obama at Netflix.
  28. Miss. Facebook's only troubles have been political as the Demagogic Party tries to circumvent the Constitution and get its jackboot on the neck.
  29. Hit. That was a gimme.
  30. Hit. It wasn't a prediction, just a statement of fact.
  31. Miss. I'd actually support this one, that probably explains why it didn't happen. Actually, it didn't happen because the Demagogic Party and its numerous partisan media shills have only one priority, which is the Stalin-style show trials and witch hunts (and Jeffrey Epstein's murder).
  32. Hit. Another gimme.
  33. Miss. As of right now, RBG tries to wait out the witch hunt. Won't work.
  34. Hit. Another gimme.
  35. Hit. Yet another gimme. I should have included sexual preference in that one.
  36. Hit. I think they maxed out near 30.
  37. Hit. Another non-prediction / statement of fact.
