I am thinking there is some OpSec going on.
And remember, the Marines are under the direct supervision of the President.
And Mattis is a former Marine.
From the 1947 National Security Act:
“In addition to these specific functions, the Corps may be assigned such additional functions as the President may direct. Accordingly, Marines may still, as provided by previous law, be assigned for duty with the Army, or such other functions as are not specifically prescribed by law. There is but one restriction placed on Presidential assignment of additional duties. The law states “That such additional duties shall not detract from or interfere with the operations for which the Marine Corps is primarily organized.” Thus, Congress pointedly insists that, regardless of what additional duties are assigned, such additional duties shall not endanger the fundamentally amphibious character of the Marine Corps.”

They would only need my old unit to detour the caravan. ADM. Atomatic Demolition Munitions.
I was stationed in Germany and spent 3 years ready to stop the Rooskies should they decide to cross the border.
The tactical Nukes we’re never actually used. Pretty sure they’ve all been destroyed. But they would do the job for sure ;)
I hear you.
I have a feeling a bunch of Texans may show up to back up the military if the invasion force doesn’t turn around.
Fort Knox?
Fort Campbell, I would imagine

Just a bit of local (southern IL) color here:
In our little town, there are already two of those pop-up stands on the side of the road, selling Trump swag. We call those ‘gypsy Walmarts’ around here.
We went to an estate sale about 25 miles away this morning, and passed another road-side stand in an even smaller town. When we got to the town where the sale was held, lo and behold, there was another one!
Then I came home and found out that Fox and Friends will be doing a live remote from a little cafe here on Sunday morning. LOL!
I’m sure this happens all over the country, whenever there is a rally. It’s just so bizarre to see it around here.
ADD: My husband sent me a photo of Marine One being unloaded at the airport this morning.
We are across river from Louisville. Fort Knox is just South between Louisville and Elizabethtown

At least 1,700 Central American migrants have abandoned the caravan slowly making its way towards the United States; either applying for asylum in Mexico or accepting government offers to transport them to their countries of origin.
According to the Associated Press, thousands of undocumented workers from Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador are abandoning their 1,500 mile journey north due to weather, sickness, lack of food, and exhaustion.
We got hit by rain, and ever since then Ive had a cold, said one immigrant. No. Im going to make my life in Honduras.
We didnt know what lay ahead, said another. We want to return to our country, where you can get by even if just with beans, but you can survive, there with our families, at peace.
The caravan has progressed just 95 miles into Mexico since crossing the border late last week. They remain over 1,000 miles from the United States.
NIKK...part of a story...
One visitor your little town will never forget. I remember when IKE drove by our school We all got out and lined the highway. He slowed down and actually reached out and patted my hand. Still tear up thinking about it. Memories of a lifetime are about to happen in your community.
Texans are too tough. They’ll head for Sanctuary State California for easier entrance. JMO
