I presume there is an FBI investigation in regards to the Chinese spy. DiFi would be the second most central figure in such an investigation, with the suspect being the most central of course.

Lack of public evidence of an FBI investigation is not evidence of lacking an investigation. The FBI doesn't typically publicize investigations, especially concerning persons.
