I'm not a fan of the source, but theirs is the only photo of the find, lousy though the photo is:

Blame Zahi? Although nobody’s really done anything to open things up since him.
Almost makes you wonder how many ZPM’s they found.

MGM called, they want their lost movie prop Sphinx back
To: nevadapatriot
Nice try but, it’s the Moby Dick prop.

Very interesting.
I am sure they will find a way to remove it without damaging it — at least I hope so.

Looks like the arrow on the photo is pointing to a Crinoid stem.

Sooo, from this we're supposed to be able to tell that it's a lion's body with a human head?
Either they have an overactive imagination, or they take super-crummy, unhelpful pictures.

It looks more like the the upper jaw of the whale that swallowed Jonah.
To: SunkenCiv
I see hair, on a head turned away from the camera; a torso with a small female breast; and the stub of an outreached arm.
That clinches it: Cleopatra de Milo!

Thanks Innovative. It'll be nice when we find out if the thing sticking up in the photo (the one with the arrow pointing to it) is the pharaoh's beard, or the uraeus on the crown. :^) Meanwhile, feel free to enjoy the ongoing smart remarks on this thread. :^D

He originally came in that way. Not sure what planet he’s from.

A better photo -- the caption is ****, there is a large row of sphinxes at Luxor, of New Kingdom in date, this isn't "a second sphinx". Drama drama, just to push tourism:
A second Sphinx was uncovered in Luxor, Egypt during upgrades being made to a road.

Ah yes, the famous director, Cleopatra B. de Milo, did “The Ten Commandments”.
