But African-Americans, Hispanics, and Asians who get elected to Congress get closer to the front row in the Democratic Party than they would in the Republican Party.
In the GOP, they'd have to wait in line behind all those White guys. As Democrats they don't have to wait so long. Maybe they don't get leadership positions, but they get an awful lot of face time in the media.
Something similar has been true for Jews for some time. And for Irish Catholics and White Southerners before that.
