Up here, “Colder than a witch’s tit” is still occasionally heard, but not in mixed company!
For me, it was funny how I remembered that saying “tits in a wringer”. I had not thought of it in decades, the saying was lost to the fog of time, and I was walking through a antique store, and there was a wringer. A real one with the rollers and big handle all attached to the top of a large tin bucket, and boom...it came right back to me!
I was 18 working my first job in a factory right out of high school before starting college and wasn’t used to women talking this way. Your comment triggered it again. :)
Hehehe...I can still see my mother, her dark Italian/Armenian face flashing with anger, her elbow pointing at the ground and her cigarette in her hand, with her left hand holding her right elbow as she said it!
