So weird! After I saw aheadline today on FR, Michelle Obama Pretty as a Flower, I did a search for ten most poisonous plants.
People were messing around with Jimsonweed as far back as the 70s that I know of. Not people that knew anything about it...generally city people who had just heard it was a hallucinogen and not of the other effects. Native Americans used/use it for visions but as I understand it they have their parts and ways to harvest for that, they don’t just go grab some and play around with it.
I wonder if it is always that bitter or if at certain times it is not?
I ask that because I have known of animals and at least one child eating it. The animals died, the child didn’t die but didn’t actually eat it just chewed on a leaf, got really sick.
Not sure, maybe different parts of the plant? I know if you pick a leaf, break it in half and touch it to your tongue, it’s extremely bitter. Some people taste differently than others...
Lived in west Africa when I was a kid. I Climbed a mango tree once to avail myself of some of the delicious sun ripened fruit. Don’t ever do that. My entire body broke out in hives. Turns out that the mango tree is related to poison ivey, don’t ever climb them or touch them, In fact just don’t even go near them, buy your mangos at the market, you’re welcome.
Oleander is planted in the middle of many of California’s highways. 3 leaves can kill a horse.
I seem to remember that Sue Grafton, the author of the alphabet mysteries, was in a bad marriage and wondering how to off her husband, when she read about oleander. It inspired her to write her first novel, “A Is For Alibi.”
Here in Phoenix developers plant oleander like crazy, especially in new housing communities. When I bought my new construction home 28 years ago, I immedately had all planted oleander removed from my lot.
Oleander is so toxic, if you burn the trunks and branches, the smoke is deadly poisonous.
Good information but needed more photographs.

Did you meet Raquel Welch and run into a tiger? Never get out of the boat unless you were goin all the way.
If you burn a liberus hypocriticus fascia will the smoke kill you?
Soon they're gonna be in bloom up in Annandale
It really stinks because I like walking in the woods.
I thought they were plants.
I was surprised how many of these plane grow all around me.
Coincidence?
I had every intention of posting photographs but I had something come up. I had to post and run.
Better to have post and ran fast, than to have a fast runny post.
