Derailment or breakdowns would be bad halfway across the Pacific.
Moonbeam would only have one track and train. Solar powered of course.

I learned years ago from one of my old college buds who works for Dell and he is sent to SE Asia to inspect their workforce (unofficially). Does this to this day: he never sits down at the airport before the flight.
Not even when eating or just waiting. Because it’s unhealthy to sit on your ass for 10 hours on a flight. You have to move. So he’s just standing the entire time before take off and nowadays for intl flights, you have to check in minimum 3 hours beforehand. he learned this trick from a Brit from the British consulate who is sent around the world, whom he chatted on a flight.

And airline crashes in the ocean arent bad? Worked out well for MH370.
Remember rail gives one control over some things...including where to look.

I’m happy just to stay home.

Thanks for the tip. I had never heard that. That is probably more important as you get older.

"I think in the next decade or two you're going to see them become a reality," They have been saying this every decade since the 707 came out.

Great looking plane, until it’s discovered it can carry fuel or passengers, but not both.
