Gotta tell you, it was wild. My brother in law had a place there, and I wouldn’t have known about it, except I would go over to his house over the years, and the water came up into his back yard, over an expanse of land I wouldn’t have expected! He told me the whole sordid tale!
I better stop.
I forget sometimes that this was a terrible thing (the subject of the thread) but sometimes, I find myself in those “outside the funeral home conversations” while I am still “in” the funeral home.
It is easy to do sometimes, and lose perspective. Just like in “real” life, the conversations go down paths divergent from the subject!
Could’ve been a *lot* worse.

My 1st husband and I were ranch kids who grew up with and were taught early on how to properly handle livestock, horses and large dogs-our daughter grew up with big dogs-and she was never left out of our sight with her guardian German Shepherd until she was 12-she was the one who took our 2nd German Shepherd-also a female-through the drills at obedience training.
She is a teacher and a married adult woman who loves animals and worked as a vet tech. She is well able to choose and handle her own choice of companion dog. Her Pitbull is an indoor pet that sleeps with cats and was purchased at a reputable, recommended AKC kennel as an 8 week old puppy-not from a backyard breeder in a gangbanger hood-he was neutered at 5 months and he is now 11 years old-there has never been an incident with him-she took him to obedience training as soon as he was old enough for that.
I adopt my pet cats from the local animal welfare facility-but I always buy my companion dog from a reputable AKC breeder-not cheap, but I save up the money for the dog, then I buy the best-it is the only thing that makes sense if you are fond of the large working/guarding breeds of dog-as does making sure the dog knows that you are the alpha/pack leader from day one. Small milder tempered dogs are obviously better for some people, too-different strokes and all that...
I was not aware that you had lost your dear companion dog, FRiend-I lost my Husky girl almost 2 years ago-she was 17-so I empathize totally ...

They are most definitely not Danes. The pix of her bending over to one standing on the ground - definitely PBT type. Doesn’t matter if it was some kind of mix, it’s a PBT type in there for sure. (And often, the “mix” is of several breeds of the PBT persuasion.)
Poster was talking about CATAHOULA LEOPARD DOGS not killing anyone; they can look like PBTs but are not the same (like some Labs, another reason I am against breed-bans - one doesn’t always know what something really is).
But otherwise, carry on.
A that size it strikes me they are another breed. The American Pit Bull Terrier is the breed most often called a “Pit Bull.” The size standard for that breed is about 45 lb. for males. The American Staffordshire Terrier, with the standard for males being 75 lb. Then there comes the American Bulldog at about 100 lb. I’ve seen all three breeds, either in person or by pictures. Those dogs are too big and don’t have the right conformation.

What size of what dogs? The pix in the film is not a huge dog, but substantial.
While a regular PBT breed should not be more than a medium-height dog, no doubt there are those “bred for size” (like my beloved German Shepherds, who should NOT be more than 90 lbs but many brag of their “120 lb beast” and indeed, they are oversized).
AND, pit-bull terrier is a TYPE; in fact, I’d say a better category is “bulldog”, because not all are terriers though the terrier generally made it more tenacious and terrifying, as if fighting nasty bulls wasn’t enough. Bulldogs and Boston Terriers and French Bulldogs and Bull Terriers all fall under that “type”, e.g., BUT the nastiness was bred out long ago. (I trust those dogs.)

Where are those pix from? The 2 in the film look like PBT types, regardless.
The Dane pix looks like in a serious kennel, which I doubt this person had. Either looking at a shelter or maybe looking for a dog at some breeder?
Either way, the first could definitely be a PBT type.
And there is no denial in the article/newscast. No one, even that hootenanny of a friend, denied they were pits (complete with the usual “kiss you to death” apology).
Someone please find pix of the actual dogs she herself owned that are the subject of the story, not fostered or worked with at the local shelter of that she had 4 years ago.
And saying they’re “not pits” can be disingenuous. PBTs are a TYPE, which covers alot of ground, and some try to demurely deny it’s a “PBT” by the fact it’s not part of the name. Not the point. Just like a greyhound is a type as well as a breed, so happens with PBTs.
They’re directly from her FB page, where she shows off her dogs and tells people their names.
And yes, she did have such a kennel.
Apparently they’re a rather monied family to not only have kennels like those, but stable of show horses, as well.
He page is also full of her horses, horse show photos, and the trophies and ribbons she won.
I can do no more than show you the actual photos of her dogs that she posted herself, over the last couple years.
