Corrupt LBJ was a later-century Huey Long.
I define federal officials as good - adhering to the Constitution and its limitations - versus bad - ignoring the Constitution. IMO, our worst Presidents were
1) Obama
2) FDR
3) LBJ

apparently, it wasn’t enough that clooney’s latest cinematic garbage with matt damon was a disaster. So I’ll just say in advance, that nonuse of the “select” button is me not watching.
It’s of interest to note that “clooney” can be found in the dictionary between “clap” and “crap.”

And the revisionist history books forget to say that the Republican Nixon ended American involvement in the Democratic War in Vietnam ramped up by LBJ who hog tied the US military with McNamara at every turn. Generals should give orders to brigades, not rifle squads. And the only good enemy is a POW or deceased.

Yeah, it's always referred to as Nixon's War as if he started the whole gd thing.
Not only did LBJ increase our involvement massively, he used the phony Gulf of Tonkin fake incidents as justification.

JFK expanded Vietnam to save his fellow Catholics, even though they were the minority in South Vietnam.

Watergate was boring and convoluted 50 years ago. It hasn't improved with age.

With Clooney involved we know two things:
1 It will be biased as hell and Nixon will look more like Trump than Nixon.
2 It will suck dead rat butt. Clooney poisons everything he touches. Look for it to flop like a beached fish.

The greatest story ever told (asides from the one in the bible), will be the story that started last year and continues today, and that's about how the democrats undertook the mission to undermine the will of the people to remove the lawfully elected president of the U.S. That story started before months before the actual election, and the investigations into the government corruption continue even today. When the story is finally told (not by democrats or liberal Hollywood, I'm certain), the whole country should be pissed as hell, and will demand that heads roll and that people go to prison for life or very long sentences.
The Watergate story will be equal to a Disney princess movie in comparison.

Every social/political group with any history has a ‘golden era’ where their cause came out victorious and as such stays green in their memory. Almost always there is selective memory at work as inconvenient truths and facts are forgot while the victories are magnified. As a rule, it appears that these periods have to be at least 25 years in the past for this selective memory to work, probably a normal human psychology quirk.
Conservatives usually will pick the Reagan Presidency (1980-89) to remember in this manner, while the LEFT will remember the delicious chase and destruction of Richard Nixon (1971-3), primarily through his own hubris. The memory of a crusading newspaper and an avenging media working together against a prickly and un-photogenic Nixon and the parade of maligned henchmen in the hot seats of the Senate Watergate Committee probably feels like the best of the LEFT in recent history!
So it is no surprise that the current LEFT MSM & Hollywood would like to remind us of how similar Nixon is to Trump for, rest assured, that that contextual theme will be strong in this series. Bet on it!

Well the “Big” Movie coming out is Spielberg’s, “The Post”. about Ben Bradlee and the Washington Post during that era of the early 1970’s. I think it has to do with the Pentagon Papers. I have no desire to see Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep do their Liberal Voodoo dance of delight. So I will pass.

I’m sure they will figure a way to blow Watergate into way more than it ever was. I’d also assume some of the point of this is to take people’s minds off some of the real corruption that occurred later on in more recent history. I don’t see where the real Watergate episode is worth an 8-part series.
