Statistically the chances of being murdered in Chicago is less than in New Orleans.
Everyone keeps lifting up Chicago for the murder rate there, but with 2.7 million people it’s murder rate per capita is almost twice as high as it is in New Orleans. Yes, New Orleans has had “only” 117 murders this year so far, but it also has only 391,000 people. It’s murder rate as a % of the population is 0.0299%, while Chicago’s is “just” 0.01852%.
Is it just that Obama came from Chicago that has put its murder rate at the “top of the page”, when statistically its quite a bit safer than New Orleans?
