One of the most famous streets in Richmond is Monument Avenue. There are several monuments with Washington, major confederate figures, and relatively recently Arthur Ashe. The street is lined with gorgeous Victorian mansions. I work off Semmes Avenue. Semmes is named after Raquel Semmes who commanded the commerce raider CSS Alabama. I guess that needs to go to. I would not care if they tore down the Jefferson Davis statue. He was not a Virginian although lived in Richmond during the war and was a horrible leader.

Proud Democrats Out For a Ride with Their Buddies

Put the subject on the ballot, but make passage conditional upon a public apology from all Democrats for the institution and the perpetuation of slavery in the first place, tearing the country apart in a great civil war.

I want to hear them beg for our forgiveness for the institution of terror in the form of white supremacy by the formation of the KKK nightriders, and for their institution of "Jim Crow" laws by the racist "Dixiecrats" in the 1940's and 50's to "keep their 'nigras' in their place".

And last but not least, I want the DNC and the Congressional Black Caucus to accept their responsibility for the fraud and deception by the corrupt urban Democrat political machine which has destroyed black 2-parent families and kept black communities in a state of perpetual poverty and welfare dependency since the 1960's.

If The Democrats are willing to publicly make those few minor accommodations, then we'll talk about the statues.

Then wouldn’t they have to rename it “Lack-of-Monument Avenue?” Or “Monument-less Avenue?” Or “Politically Correct Revisionist Boulevard” or something similar?

What about the very cool museum known as the “Confederate White House”?

I have very little regard for the Confederacy but find nothing offensive in memorials and statues. It is historically relevant to American history. I have never seen a Confederate monument that glorified slavery or put the rebellion and secession in a good light.

I do have to point out the hypocrisy of the left (AKA Democrat Party) who opposed Emancipation,Reconstruction and ANY integration of freed slaves other than being a less than American (or in many cases an animal). The ugly racism (Jim Crow, poll tax, lynchings etc.) has its roots in the opposition by Democrats (KKK) to Republicans who wanted to integrate freed slaves. I find it ironic Democrats put up these monuments and Democrats want them down and blame Republicans (in reality ALL White People) for ALL injustices cause by the evil Democrat Party.

The DNC,Antifa,Socialists,Fascists,Communists,NeverTrumps and all America haters can FOAD.

One of my daughters and her family are in D.C. today, I told her it was great my grandson could see the monuments before they are torn down.

This happened yesterday ...

Tar doused on Confederate statue on Monument Avenue in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. — A large clear tarp now protects the base of one of the Confederate statues on Richmond’s iconic Monument Avenue that was vandalized at some point early Saturday morning.
Richmond police said someone used two cans of tar to deface the monument to Confederate general J.E.B. Stuart at Monument and N. Lombardy Street.
“There are a lot of inflamed passions right now and people are not necessarily thinking straight, which is not a good thing,” Barry Isenhour with the Virginia Flaggers said.
The damage was discovered by a member of the Virginia Flaggers group just before 7 a.m.
