My condolences, wardaddy. This is a tough deal for you, I’m sorry.
Okay, a few more comments and I’ll go away. My first broadcasting gig was at Westland Plaza for a Gayfer Girls fashion show. My sister was a GG.
I was married at Mynell Gardens on Clinton Blvd in 1979...
Ah yes, Riverside Park, Saturday and Sunday afternoons...I remember Strawbridge, Let’s Eat and Larry Raspberry. Saturday morning lookin for “Uncle Dan The Garbage Man” (remember him?) for some acid and then on to the park!
Saturday nights at The Red Lobster on the reservoir partying to Sassy Jones.
Michael G Brown at Poet’s. Skeets McWilliams at Christo’s On Fortification.
Many good bands at George Street Grocery too...
For a small town Jackson even brought in some pretty good rock acts too, thanks to Wayne Harrison. He did play a part in that.
First concert for me was Herman’s Hermits and The Animals at the colliseum in 1965. Later The Who in 1968. Allman Brothers in 71 and Tull in 73 and many more...
Great times back then...sadly everything seems to suck now!
