It was. But who was manning it? Outside of Iran we only run up against Soviet/Russian gear. The US projects power very well. Our weakness as a warmonger is public opinion which is ironically our strength as a country. Public opinion got us out of Viet Nam and kept us out of Obama/Hillaryland. It is unfortunate in this sinful world that in order to have a modicum of peace people who love this country must walk a metaphorical post against those within and without who seek our liberty. Perhaps years ago we could have secured it better so older patriots could rest and bask a little in that a bit but that time is past.

Do they have a good military or no?

They? Syrians? No. Russia a qualified probably because what is necessary to make that assessment is unavailable to me. They certainly make some decent weapons in large numbers and have some very skilled formations. China is harder to say. They have some nice gear and a lot of it but unlike previously their people have had a slight taste of an economic system that would be rescinded in case of war. I wonder how excited the Chinese would be about losing that little bit of freedom to fight a long costly war where they may never get it back.

The last conflict for China (Viet Nam) wasn't very impressive. Same for Russia although we have had the same types of problems with the same conflicts. Total war has been absent for the last 70 years thankfully. The next would be worse than the last.
