I had an older bro who was in Nam when the song came out. Though he wasn’t a Green Beret, but when you’re a kid it doesn’t matter - you just feel pride.

This tune, also from the summer of '64, has a party feel as well. It was a big hit in LA, but it probably didn't get much airplay east of the Cajon Pass.
