Watched La La Land on 123movies a few nights ago. Decent music, modest dancing, hackneyed plot. In short, practically perfect Hollywood fodder.
Lion wasn’t anything at all like Slumdog Millionaire. It had a very good first half then dragged on too long before it came to a decent ending. I walked away from La La Land because I thought it was boring and the musical numbers weren’t very good. My wife, who is a big fan of musicals, also thought it was boring. Even though it got all of the hype this year it’s a movie that will soon be forgotten.
La La Land was a lot of fun.
Lion for sheer HEART yes.
Haven’t see La La Land, but everyone I know who has says don’t bother.
I haven’t seen either one, but I did see “The Lego Batman Movie” this weekend. It was hilarious. I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time.
“Lion” and “Manchester by the Sea”,yes,”LaLa Land”.no.
.
Lion was excellent. It did run on for a bit in the middle, but I enjoyed it. Anyone with adoption in their family would do well to see it.
There are very few that are any good nowadays. Here's my quick list of the ones I thought were entertaining:
Hacksaw Ridge, The Accountant, Sully, Hell or High Water, Magnificent Seven. Beyond these, nothing else comes to mind.
The two movies you mentioned weren't worth it, even with my senior discount
Hollywood and its films are not what they used to be.
