Actually, some of the warm white LED bulbs are not bad at all, and they are coming down in price faster than I ever thought they would. A while back, Wally World and a local utility were running a promotion resulting in 50 cent 60w LED lamps. The higher wattages are still pricey, though.
The “bright white and especially “cool white” CFLs have lots of UV output though, and even the warm white CFL’s have a ragged output spectrum. UV is not good for the eyes!
Sitting here @ my LED monitor, I assume LED backlit monitors & TV’s have a similar advantage???
