First-born children are smarter than their younger siblings, new study finds

I will admit the middle one got the short end of the stick but right from the day he was born he was a difficult child. The oldest was a piece of cake. It didn’t help that they were only 13 months apart. He was always compared to his sister and they were like night and day. The youngest is very much like the oldest, only not as easy going.

Of course there are tons of exceptions, but I have seen this in horses, where the first one was a big time performer, the later ones were often good, but not superstars.

I always felt that it didn't matter whether I was smarter than my four younger brothers (even though I certainly was).

The only thing that they had to know was that I could take all four of them at one time should the occasion arise (and it did several times) ... and that certainly still applies.

As first born, I’ve always believed this to be correct.

and then there's the study about only children being smarter than multiple children families....its hogwash...

I will say the way it was in my family....post WW2 my oldest brother and my oldest sister got EVERYTHING..

starting with the bronzed shoes...the piano lessons...the extra attention...the dance lessons...the camps....etc....

the rest of us....no money when it came to lessons for the rest of us...

consequently, the gifted duo are liberals, and the rest of us are basic conservatives....those that got it given to them as opposed to those who had to work for it...
