MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Holidays like New Years and Hanukkah are in close proximity but at this time of the “holidays” it’s a celebration of Christs’ birth not the birth of a holiday......once again MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
Correct me if I am wrong, but E, this time of year *is* approaching Christmas. Christians have been muzzled in recent years in the USA of all places and we’re sick of it.
Our country has deeply Christian religious Tradition, founded by Christians. WE were raised hearing “sticks and stones may break our bones, but words will never hurt me”.
Forget about it.
“I do not want to be lumped into one big group.”
You mean like FREEPERS? I suspect that problem is close to resolving itself for you.
Joyous Remembering the Jewish Messiah’s Incarnation!
“As soon as I said I didn’t even need to go on the air, I just wanted him to be aware of my opinion, I heard the phone on her end hung up without a single word. I couldn’t believe it.”
The screener is paid to find callers which Mike wants on the air, not to just “take your opinion”. You want the experience of a million listeners to stall (however slightly) just because you want to vent an opinion, but don’t want to face that audience.
I’ve learned that it’s very liberating to discover that you _can_ hang up on people, without comment, and without socially-mandated agreements per protocols. If _you_ are taking _my_ time, with no apparent benefit to me, you don’t get any more of my time. Likewise, the “benefit” the screener is seeking is finding callers worth airing; if you say up front you don’t want to be on the air, you’re wasting his time.
Sorry kid, the screener had a job to do - and you were in her way. Next!
I attended a public elementary school that was around 85% to 90% Jewish (in the early '70s), and in 2nd and 3rd grades we all sang Christmas carols in our music classes in Dec.. ...and it was no big deal. Granted, the vast majority of Jews at our school weren't observant. We sang a couple Hanukkah songs too.
Happy Holidays....Merry Christmas.........both are fine by me. Maybe because I heard it all growing up. But if anyone starts with anything about Ramadan, they're going to get a dirty look, at minimum ;)
They are looking for people who wish to express their opinions on the show.
Mike Gallagher used to be on the radio out here, and I miss him. The “conservatives” who dominate talk radio in this area today are Glenn Beck and Mark Levin—Never Trumpers who continue to bash the president-elect.
If were in a Jewish neighborhood and was wished a happy Chanukkah, I’d say thank you and consider it a positive interaction.
Happy Hanukkah to you.
Our founding fathers were in majority Christian. So you are Jewish in what was formed a Christian nation... I think you live to be offended... Why would you demand of others what you yourself cannot live up to?
If you called me up to express butthurt over “Merry Christmas” I’d hang up on you too.
Merry Christmas.
I have several Jewish friends who laugh at your attitude.
When someone says “Merry Christmas” to them, they appreciate the sentiment, namely a common form of wishing someone well this time of year. In fact, most of them say “Merry Christmas” back in respect of the other persons’ beliefs.
Us Christians do prefer to hear “Merry Christmas,” but if someone says “Happy Holidays” to me, I simply look at their intent and don’t get hung up on the exact words. Would be childish of me to do so unless they were trying to denigrate my faith,
Now, when it is corporate policy to avoid the term Christmas regarding a Christian holiday, that does annoy me. But that’s largely because I am just sick of PC BS. Just like when I get annoyed that many companies will not recognize Passover, but will recognize Ramadan.
Did you at least wish HIM a merry christmas?
Or is it only YOUR feelings that matter?
I operate under: “take no offense where none is intended”
The alternative? Living life (especially during the “holiday” season) with a chip on your shoulder.
Here is some unsolicited advice: lose the chip on you shoulder. And then when someone says to you “Merry Christmas”, you - in turn - smile, and say the words: “thank you”. And if you like, you could add your own greeting - ‘Happy Hanukkah’ - or whatever you’d like.
Trust me on this one - you’ll be much happier - and more pleasant to be around.
Merry Christmas
I was flunked on my Waldorf Salad last week in culinary school even though my chef-professor ate it heartily. Stuff happens.
“I just wanted him to be aware of my opinion”
You’re an idiot for thinking someone is required to engage you in the conversation of your choice. Call screeners are looking for people to go on the air, not give the on-air personality your opinion. You don’t run that show.
Talk about snowflakes thinking they are the most important person on the planet and everyone had better give them attention else.
