Never heard of it until your post.
Thanks for the encouragement.
In the first years of changing my mindset from that of the world-view to that of the culture of Bible-believing Christ-followers, each day I read the chapter of Proverbs corresponding to the day of the month, and five chapters of Psalms starting with the day of the month as well as the four found by adding multiples of thirty to it. For instance, today is December 2, so the Psalms would be 2, 32, 62, 92, and 122.
The idea was to read these wisdom books according to the thoughts of Proverbs 8:5 and 9:10 (Proverbs has 53 verses that contain the word "wisdom" and 53 with "understanding"). That covers those two books 12 times each year.
My daily Bible reading pattern is a bit different now, but it was a good way to begin 45 years of walking with the Lord. Wisdom is a deep, deep well, brought to perfection when understanding takes place.
One of my sons has done likewise, and it is his family of 10 children that stand firmest in the Lord.
And money!
+1.
I never went to EST myself, but I did observe the negative consequences in many people around me. Broken marriages, ruined careers and kids left in the wake of destruction. This was in Silicon Valley.
As far as your son goes, I was lost at 20 years old. I fixed it by trying different jobs and locations in the US. I soon learned I had no business living East of the Rockies or working for some asshole. Went back to college when I was 25 and made the best of it.
Thanks, pretty cool.
I was friends with a couple who were enthusiastic about est for a while (they later dropped it) and went to some sort of orientation session at their urging.
Either at that session or from my friends I heard that ‘We’re going to end world hunger in 10 years.’ That’s when the BS meter went from red to infrared.
I had been in the Bay Area when Jim Jones was running buses around to transport people to his People’s Temple meetings in SF and had also come across various small fry ‘holy men’ trying to build up their own cult followings. It was all BS and est had that smell about it.
