That reminds me of a time I was in Ireland...drinking with some buddies in a very small family owned pub.
After a time drinking a good number of Guinness, I asked the matron who was pouring pints, "Could you kindly point me to the men's room?"
"The...what?", she asked. "Oh...you mean the toilet."
Raising her arm and pointing her finger to the back of the place she said, "See that door? Go out through that door and you'll be on a small porch. Anywhere between there and Dublin will be what you're lookin' for."
There was video of a cop shooting a passenger recently, filmed by the g-friend. We all know how that turned out. Has anyone seen the video? I've seen the security video of the athletes returning to the village.
I'm not passing judgement yet. I think our swimmers may not have told the whole truth and may have embellished some details or left some things out. But I'm not sure the Brazilian speculation is just right either. Let's see the video.
Dead bodies floating in the water and this is what concerns them?
I am not all that well acquainted with Brazilian laws, but I do know that when I have been in Brazil, I did not destroy anyone’s bathroom.
However, when I am in a third world country, I carry an extra $500 on me so that I can payoff cops if need be or pay a thug who sticks a gun in my face.
Sounds like it would have been gest if nothing had been said.
This article is wrong. The video showed the security guard never drew his wEaton and they voluntarily paid.
I doubt they want jail time for the swimmers that’s not going to do Brazil any good. But at least now they can show these Olympic athletes were not robbed.
No gun was pulled.
They just booked the door open, because it was locked and they wanted to use it.
Ugly American is nothing but a leftist wedge tactic to shame Americans about their ignorance of foreign cultures. Most of the time, idiot Americans don’t realize a certain amount of swagger is required in the third world, and they act like liberal wussies and get walked all over.
In fairness to the Rio police, if they hear about a crime committed in their jurisdiction even if it wasn’t officially reported its kind of their job to investigate.
“Sounds like it would have been best if nothing had been said.”
Exactly.
When you get into a jam like that in the third world, you pay people off and with that payment, you are also buying their SILENCE.
If you are silent ,and they are silent, you can jet back to the USA and parlay your gold metals into millions of dollars in endorsements.
Lochte is an idiot and he is too stupid too realize that he is an idiot.
That’s what I was thinking. If Brazil is anything like India, you can relieve yourself pretty much anywhere you have a mind to. Why would you break INTO a toilet?
“How do you destroy a gas station toilet?”
Brazilian food?
I never tested the limits, but the main thing it did was to prevent cops from stopping you, accusing you of a crime and shaking you down. In the long run, it was much cheaper to pay off the Province Chief rather than paying off every cop you met.
Is the video available? Where is everyone getting the details? I know we’ve been told there is video evidence. But has anyone seen it?
I don’t expect accurate facts yet, it’s a 3rd world country. But a lot of “facts” seem to be posted here that I can’t seem to verify across sources.
Maybe they needed to take an Obama. Then there is the problem with Toilet Paper being readily available in a 3rd world country restroom.
“Most of the time, idiot Americans dont realize a certain amount of swagger is required in the third world, and they act like liberal wussies and get walked all over.”
In Rio, the right amount of “swagger”, which you speak of, if you are luckly, will help you end up in the body bag. If you are unlucky but still have the right amount of swagger, your body will never be found. Perhaps it will be found... 4 years later washed on the beach, just in time for the Olympics. True story.
Never get a guard service. Hire your own guard.
