Falcon based... the smaller / shorter wheel base
It is what I just passed on, all the wrenching was done, but it was an auto ...
Lawrence, Lawrence of Arabia. He was an English Guy. He came to fight the Turkish.
I had a 69 El Camino. It had a 307 and I swapped it out for a 350. Had a 350 Turbo Hydro Automatic Transmission and it really moved.
One of the best Cars I’ve ever owned and it looked really cool. Black with Dark Gray contrast along the bottom and matching Hood Stripes. Made it look like an SS.
Of course it had Chrome Cragars with big fat tires and everything. The Eight Track worked like a charm. LOL
My dad had a 69 El Camino as well. 350 auto. He’d had it for years, the engine developed a knock, the paint was starting to go, had some rust. But, rather than selling it, he kept it for me to learn to drive in, the deal was no public roads, keep it only on the private gravel road and farm roads around our home. I had a blast in it, I was 14.
My Dad’s friend had a 69 Shelby 350H that he was selling for $2,000 back in 1974.
I told him I would buy it and he sold it out from under me.
Never talked to him again, turned out to be a real A Hole.
It was over 40 Years ago and it still pisses me off.
My Wife tells me to let it go, but it’s a Guy thing. LOL
Yeah, I loved that Car. It had great lines, really sharp.
Can’t say that about many other Cars I’ve owned over the years, but I sure wish I still owned some of them.
The 70 Torino GT I had was a POS, but it had a 351 Cleveland with the Shaker Hood and a Four Speed. Those are worth big bucks today. Who woulda thunk it?
I always thought the 69 El Camino was the best looking of the 68-72 run. My Friend’s Dad had a sweet 64 with a 283.
The more I think of these things, the more depressed I’m getting. If I knew then... LOL
Can’t say I blame you for being bummed out. Even though I’m a female I’d feel down if dad got rid of the stang instead of giving it to me or my sister. It needs a paint job and re-upholstering (he sat in it once with a screwdriver in his back pocket and ripped the seat all to hell). Other than that it runs like a, as dad says, a “raped ape”.
If I knew then what I know now, I’d have convinced my dad to keep that ‘66 Galaxie 500 7 Litre, lol.
Hey RC, was that at 406 0r 427. Mom had a Galaxy at one time with a 406. One hing about Dad,, when he bought car for Mom it was actually for himself,, LOL.
427.
Glad someone else is up late with us. One of our friends, Shannon, is here in the office with us. She’s interested in being a freeper so I was showing her this site. She’s also an avid shooter and conservative.
I’ve been around Cars all my Life. My Father owned a Esso Station back in New York and when we moved to California he had a Flying A Gas Station.
I was buying and selling Cars when I was 12. I can’t even remember half of all the Cars I’ve owned over the past 50 Years, but losing that Shelby still haunts me.
My older Brother, almost 70 now still has a 32 Ford 5 Window Deuce Coupe he bought as a rolling Chassis when he was 17 and built him himself. Chevy V-8, four speed and Posi Traction. He never did finish it up though. He lost interest and bought an old Taylorcraft Airplane to rebuild.
Now the Deuce is just buried in his Garage. Drives me absolutely crazy. He gives me that “someday” he will finish it speech and his Wife and I laugh.
Looks like his Daughter will end up gettig it and try to sell it to me. She knows I’ve always wanted that Car.
Then again, my Brother will probably outlive me. LOL
My Buddy had a Galaxie with the 390. Can’t remember the year, but it was the rounded Body. Hauled a$$ as I recall.
Got in from fireworks fairly late, thunderstorm came up, dogs are agitated so I’m still up, lol.
Probably either a 63, 64 or 67. “Rounded” wouldn’t describe any of the other years that had a 390.
It’s been 40 Years and I was a Chevy guy.
Could have had a different Engine, but I remember 390. I’ll have to do a Google Images search on the 64-67 Models to see if anything looks familiar.
It was a big old Galaxie though. LOL
I should be in Bed and I’m sitting here reliving my youth.
I hear ya. Our fireworks were last night in Southport. We took the pups just to get them out with other folks (Mom and Dad are still in Miss.) Because of you know what they’re not afraid of bang, bang thankfully!!!!. You are getting a lot of rain up there.
Might as well stay up with us east coasters.
I think it was a 63 after checking out Google.
Whatever it was, it was a boat but it moved.
