Ok. Would have loved to know more about it. Sounded so inventive and American. The Italians would have plotzed at the mere mention of it.

The more simple the recipe the more difficult it is to produce. That's true of a number of things. There's no place to hide in simplicity. Complexity can hide a number of mistakes.

I havent eaten there since the 90’slooks like they closed.
It was just an interesting presentation.
In Thailand you can get pizza with pot on it lol

“Totally disagree. The more simple the recipe the more difficult it is to produce.”
Didn’t say it wasn’t. I said if the standards are low enough you can make it. Meaning, if quality such as taste, texture, or appeal doesn’t matter then you can make just about anything.
To wit: New York pizza is a simple recipe, but it takes some practice and skill to make it right.

Why should you be excoriated? The pizza you mention is the pizza the king of Italy once ordered to be made for his queen, Margarhita. And so it is called, colloquially. Probably more than a "couple" of basil leaves, though !

The world’s best pizza can be found at Di Fara Pizzeria at 1424 Avenue J in Midwood, Brooklyn.

If I ever find my way up the old NY, I’ll have to look it up. No way I will go there with Comrade Wilhelm in charge.
Thanks for the tip.

Not in Italy but amongst our more inventive Americans! It’s my favorite but Americans tend to lard our pizzas with so many extras that turn me off. But I admire our inventiveness if not the results!

A mix of flour, water and salt is so difficult to make into something delicious. I've been at it for ten years and occasionally come through.

Exactly! The fewer the ingredients the more you have to rely on technique. I continue to fail on all levels but consider it intellectually interesting.

For a decent crust, I use frozen dinner rolls. five or six defrosted and left to rise on olive oil will make a pretty good personal-sized pizza. Obviously, choice of toppings is optional.
