Let’s take the last joint of your fingers off and see how well you fare.
That’s EXACTLY what “declawing” is.
Yep - cats do generate some good stories -— and lasting memories.
Lol.
Lordy. They total hysteria on this thread from ‘conservatives’ is unbelievable.
For 15 years, I fostered disabled cats. Cats with missing legs and eyeballs. Cats that were missing toes and tails - all from traumatic accidents and attacks. (This is the reason I hate opossums so much. After seeing what one could do to a cat, I’ve got no use for the creatures)
NONE of the cats had symptoms of PTSD or any of the other garbage that people are talking about here. Cats don’t feel sorry for themselves. If they feel loved, fed and safe, they’re fine. They live in the moment.
After working with all of that, declawing isn’t any worse.
Keep them inside and they’re fine without claws. (Or legs or eyes or tails) ALL of my injured cats survived and ended up well-adjusted and happy. (Cats are remarkable at surviving injuries. It’s disease that tends to get them.)
Animals have a lot more heart than most humans. Zero self-pitty unless they’re in immediate pain.
It amazes me that people lose their minds over such a thing when humans routinely dehorn baby goats, cut the spurs off roosters, and snip the tails off puppies without a second thought. We neuter a male dog to keep it from marking and running away. That’s for our convenience. Not for the benefit of the dog. Neutering a male doesn’t keep the population down or benefit the animal. It makes them less of a pain in the butt for US to live with.
Animals aren’t people.
Outdoor cats are ‘working animals’ and need their claws. Indoor cats are ‘companion animals’ and need to get along well with their humans. That’s their job.
