This election is Unraveling a lot of things, how things have changed since then.
The Act required Communist organizations to register with the United States Attorney General and established the Subversive Activities Control Board to investigate persons suspected of engaging in subversive activities or otherwise promoting the establishment of a "totalitarian dictatorship," either fascist or communist. Members of these groups could not become citizens and in some cases were prevented from entering or leaving the country. Citizens found in violation could lose their citizenship in five years. The Act also contained an emergency detention statute, giving the President the authority to apprehend and detain "each person as to whom there is a reasonable ground to believe that such person probably will engage in, or probably will conspire with others to engage in, acts of espionage or sabotage."[2]
It tightened alien exclusion and deportation laws and allowed for the detention of dangerous, disloyal, or subversive persons in times of war or "internal security emergency".
The Act made picketing a federal courthouse a felony if intended to obstruct the court system or influence jurors or other trial participants.
Prove it! You guys will soon get your chance.
The US has a special Cuba policy. If someone comes to the US from Cuba, say in a boat and make it to the beach, they can stay, but if we interdict the boat before they put their feet on dry land, they can’t stay.
I know about the boat policy, but what about walking across the Mexican border?
We currently have an open borders policy. The border is a gauntlet, get across it and you are home-free.
they had a chance to defund obamacare and Obama’s open border policy...they punted. The show votes don’t count. What counts is the final product.
It’s not a policy. It’s disregarding the law...Something this administration has done willingly for 7 years and the gutless GOPe has allowed them to do unfettered....
Time for this BS to end.............
ditto
The defunct NR still speaks lies.
Uh-huh.....”Secure the border” (nudge-nudge) “Enforce the laws” (wink wink - know what I mean?)
The author of this article says that Paul Ryan and other establishment Republicans aren't for "Open Borders" because they in principle support some kind of restrictions on who can or can't be in the country. If we use that kind of rhetorical hair-splitting, then Barack Obama isn't for "Open Borders" either, since even under Obama some illegals occasionally get deported. Who then, according to NRO is "Open Borders," and how is Ryan's position different from Clinton or Obama's?
If NRO wanted to be honest, they can go and say that establishment Republicans aren't any more for open borders than the most liberal Democrats. They don't want them open technically, just extremely porous to the point where it makes no effective difference.
The myth that a candidate's words on his website counter the plain evidence of his actions in a so-called leadership position is alive and well.
