"Then I would venture to say that it was less the book itself than the act of reading that changed your life."

No, the book was magic, it held my interest. I was 4 years old and a terror I am told, but that book would hold my attention. My grandmother tried many of her books she had for kids none of the worked but Green Eggs and Ham hit a harmonic in me that changed the way I looked at books. My parents and my grandparents had tried and tired to read to me and get me to pay attention etc. Nothing worked. My Grandmother went to a book store and asked for something that would hold the interest of a kid that could not sit still. She said they immediately grabbed Green Eggs and Ham and said try it.

Within a year I was a book worm. My shelves were filled with Dr. Seuss and other kids books. Been an avid reader ever since.
