The stone quarries in Aswan house, which is an unfinished obelisk, has mad scientists pull their hair out and cause a permanent denial for historians.

This guy was affected

The folly of modernity...that somehow, the current generation has cornered the market on intellect and ability.
= = =

Current generation.

Can they build a Panama Canal, Hoover Dam, LA Aquaduct,... ?

Can’t even plan a route for a bullet train.

I would like it if they would put a mooslime on the moon, half price (no return).

So I guess it was Case, Caterpillar, and Mitsubishi Heavy Equipment which laid off the giants.

I once was building a house in a corner lot carved from a farm field. Right where the basement was being excavated we hit a granite boulder about five feet down. We kept digging around it to get under it and it was almost as large as the basement. We tried blasting as we did for large boulders exposed in farm fields, but this one couldn't be. Every time they blasted it, we just shaved a few inches off the top, like a haircut. We moved the location of the foundation eventually. Otherwise we would have had a $200,000 rock and a $100,000 house.

The P-51 Mustang went from drawing board to full scale production of ten a day in six months.

It now takes ten years to produce a single pre-production plane. Nobody these days even knows the need for tooling and fixtures.

I rented a house that the farmer’s grandfather had built. I mentioned the cool bench seat along the one side of the dining room wall that was built into the house.

“Yeah - there’s a big rock there. My grandfather hand dug this all - but he gave up on that rock. Put the bench in to cover it up!”

I knew a family from Estonia that bought a ranch house down the street from us. The family didn't like the concept of a crawl space. They hand dug with five gallon buckets a twelve foot deep basement under the house. They were under the foundation footings and used rebar and hand mixed concrete to form and pour deeper footings and walls.

It took them four years of hand digging after work each night for usually three to four hours at a time.

Once they got their basement they had a place to store their home grown produce, brine cured meats, etc.... and I suppose in the back of their minds, hide from governments gone wrong.

They operate from the flawed assumption that the ancients knew less about things than we do.

Wow - that is pretty amazing.

I’m surprised the building inspector gave them the permit! ;)

I was on a project in Indonesia and there was a huge boulder by the side of the road - like 30’ x 30’. They had a bunch of worker’s on it hand drilling holes. The plan was to then fill the holes with clay and wet the clay so it would expand and break the boulder.

I don’t think they were trying to make an obelisk though!

Technically the nephs are not human. They are a cross bred species, only half human first generation.

It's that evolution garbage they've been fed all their life.

If anything we are DEVO. Don't believe me? Go buy a cup of coffee, and count the bones in their noses. 40 years ago you'd have to go to a primitive jungle village to see what is everywhere today.

Or how is it the aliens come all this way to build things in Egypt but they didn’t know how to construct a true arch?

“...but just how the F*** do you plan to get it out of here”?

Well, if they had been just a little more careful, and not broken the bottle that contained the obelisk, they could have rolled it out of the quarry.

That’s facsinating. A few years ago I heard a contractor discussing ancient ruins he had examined. He said that the ancients lifted and precisely fitted mammoth stones that the very best 21st century cranes could not lift. Do you have any sense of the lifting capacity of modern cranes?

Overhead picture

All that work only to have the big cracks in the upper section. Tremendously disappointing.

And how the heck would they get it out of the hole and moved? If we only had a time machine :<{

Probably an earthquake fractured it.

As for moving it, some sort of anti-gravity technology, IMO.

One of the aspects of reality that certain types seem to have difficult with is the simple fact that weird shit happens. Things that make no f’ing since happen all the time.

I remember an incident, some years back up in the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior. Most of the islands are National Lakeshore, and are uninhabited. One, Madeline Island, has a small community and some privately-owned cabins.

So there was this guy who’d bought a plot on the island and wanted to build a house on it. Now building on an island is expensive. You need to barge in all the materials, boat in all the workers. Our guy thought he had a less expensive approach. You see, northern Wisconsin is cold in the winter. Lake Superior freezes hard, some years, particularly along the coasts and between the coastal islands. Most years, they build a road on the ice from Bayfield out to the island. And our guy thought he’d buy a house, load it up on a truck, and drive it out to the island one February.

The ice was easily thick enough to support the weight of the house, truck, and trailer, everywhere along the road except for that one spot.

Which means that thousands of years from now, archeologists are going to find a house on the bottom of Lake Superior, and wonder just why anyone would have put it there.

The answer is that sometimes people do things that make no f’ing sense.
