In 1968 some liberal idiots the liberals touted as gods of population theory wrote a book, The Population Bomb. In that book, they proclaimed the Earth could not possibly support more than 4 billion people and everyone would starve to death.
They gave kinds of nonsense “facts”, figures, charts, numbers, and equations to “prove” their “man must die” Luddite theory. the book was a sensational hit in the academic crowd, and, therefore, with all liberals.
None of what they proclaimed would happen ever did.
Same with the Ozone Hole. Liberals proclaimed we had to stop using CFC chemicals. We did. The hole is still there. It was never man-made as they claimed.
You are absolutely right about Paul Ehrlich’s The Population Bomb.
An amusing story. Ehrlich’s doom and gloom included increased scarcity of commodities. Economist Julian Simon noted that this would lead to increased prices. He further noted this would be at variance with century old trends of declining prices due to market induced improvements in technology. Simon made a cash wager with Ehrlich, that prices would be lower in a decade. Simon won. From Wikipedia:
Ehrlich selected the metals to be used himself, and at the time of the bet called it an “astonishing offer” that he was accepting “before other greedy people jump in.”

Thanks for reminding me about the Ozone Hole. I scanned the Wikipedia article. IMO, If this is all the historical data we have, then nothing can be concluded:
