He was able to sit up and ride with my mom when he first went to hospital but on moving day he couldn't sit up safely so we had special transport move him. He knew who we were and he could talk and everything.
I didn't feel like he was ready to go yet but it was doctor's orders. My mom wanted to bring him home but with paralysis on one side and weakness on the other we didn't believe it would be possible.
My heart goes out to you and your Mom and my prayers go out for all three of you. May God give you comfort of the knowledge of how, in His world, all works out beyond our wildest dreams when all is said and done. Life can hurt but without the hurt, the joys would be wasted on us. One day, your Dad will have a new and perfect body and will forever rejoice in His loving presence.
Your dad, mom and you and all your dad’s caretakers are in my prayers.
I pray your father gets better.
And that, when my time comes, I die right there, all at once.
but the hospital didn't decide to put your dad in rehab...the doctor makes that decision.. and only with the agreement from your mom....
Medicare and other insurances do not allow people just to stay in the hospital ......when other resources are more appropriate...
after a stroke, within a few days the treatment is rehab...a hospital stay is nothing magical and rehab is a great alternative...
be thankful that your dad got into rehab....you would not believe the selection process for some rehabs, and yes, nursing homes too...
I've seen 88 yros denied going to a nursing home/rehab due to not being totally incapacitated...
the medicare/insurance lobby are NOT working for the people...they look for any reason not to pay for a service..
So sorry to hear this, Califreak. God bless both your parents. How old are they? Hope your mom is able to get some good skilled care helpers.
Prayers for your father.
Thank you all for your kindness and prayers.
My father passed away at 11:30 AM on Monday, April 25, 2016.
