I used to call it being raised on the “Reagan Highlight Reel”.

That’s not to take anything away from him at all. But people need to understand that it wasn’t all great victories, beautiful speeches, and 100% adulation.

He had to give to get many times, and he didn’t get everything he would have wanted. And yes he made mistakes, but never sold himself as perfection.

Regan was great because he achieved what he could and made those deals so that what he got felt like a win for all those involved. That’s why 1984 was as big a win as it was.

Here’s one of Bush with a saudi sword at a Saudi shindig dancing with one of the sultans. Digitally manipulated? I don’t think so.

Is Donald Trump Simply Jesse Ventura with a Rolex?
Yes with a dash of Arnold Schwarzenegger and that guy that sells real estate courses in those 30 minutes tv ads.

He is all we got. Ted Cruz does not have the charisma to win.
All republicans should be able easily beat the 2 socialists criminals running but several are democrat lite. Trump can say the right things but also goes off in all directions which worries me. Ted Cruz is kinda dull. He should be VP then run after 4 years of Trump.

I know a bit about fraud and digital manipulation regarding both video and digital imaging. But thanks.

We now live in Orwell's land of "universal deceit"

Thanks to audio and video manipulation, you cannot believe what you hear of see.

Interesting times indeed.

Thanks in large part to Donald Trump’s vicious Republican rivals, his liberal history is now almost common knowledge. For example, in the past Trump was very vocal about his pro-choice position and support for Planned Parenthood—an organization loathed by conservatives. In fact, in a 1999 interview for NBC’s Meet The Press, Trump specifically said, “I am pro-choice in every respect.” In the same year, Trump told Larry King that he was “very liberal when it comes to healthcare,” and the universal healthcare he was in favor of was not unlike Obama’s Affordable Healthcare Act. Around that time, he also publicly expressed support for legalizing drugs and taxing the wealthy. There is no doubt that the old Donald Trump sounds like a run-of-the-mill liberal. He was even registered as a Democrat in 2001 and remained that way for years. It’s really hard to imagine that someone like Trump, who is so utterly confident in everything he says and does, would do a complete 180 on such major issues. So if we are to assume that he hasn’t truly changed his beliefs in such a drastic manner, why might he be pretending that he did?

As much as I despise Ventura, he is a vet, and at one time he was the real deal.

Now, not so much.

I can too, it’s the major population who isn’t as versed as you or I and gets the news from the alphabet agencies...and vote.

We here on FR are political junkies, we live in our own bubble so to speak.

The average Joe hasn’t the interest in or the awareness of information we have....ergo, “politics is perception”

Sad but true, most don’t share the passion for the country, historical education etc. as FReepers do.

Add Donald Schwarzenegger to the list.

And to answer the title question: No. Schwarzenegger- while at least personally likeable- did not work out well for California either.

>> He was asked specifically how he presents himself and would he present himself differently when he became president <<

Exactly. The Trump who’s so beloved by his fans is only an act. His bluster and bombast are all for show. The current image is not the Trump who would live in the White House. The latter would be a calm, collected deal-maker who will get along well with his old buds like Pelosi, Hilary & Bill, etc.

Not by Trumps choosing, Beck and Cruz on the other hand...

Stop with the stupid crap, how about meaningful conversation for a change, eh?
