You know what? This isn’t a Dem or Repub issue ... both sides love it since they both get big $$$ for supporting outsourcing, insourcing, H1B, etc., etc.
America First.
“???”
In case you didn’t get it the first time... he posted it twice. :)
“.. eventually who can afford to buy the products they create?”

Most of us. It will now become cheap, inexpensive crap with a very short life span.
.
The real problem is this - we want well paying jobs with benefits.... and cheap prices.
Reality says, you can’t have both.
Good news, Scofflaws!
Obama and GOPe traitors have let you stay.
Now here’s the bad news, the jobs you came to steal were sent south.
About those extraordinary naturalization fees and fines, they’ve been spent by bureaucrats already.
Pardon!
>>>>>>Dick Durbin (D) = $54,000
Ironically, Dick Durbin has been very vocal and active in trying to beat back the tide of American companies hiring ABBAs (any body but Americans). I think he even had a book out on it some years ago.
So, I assume that the layoffs will be done in waves so that the company doesn’t have to report a mass layoff (keep it under a certain number and it flies under the radar) - all these people will collect unemployment plus other benefits like healthcare, foodstamps, child assistance, etc. All will qualify for government paid for retraining since their jobs were outsourced - and some will never work again - skill level, age, whatever. Costing the US taxpayer. No one ever talks about that.
The Walmart effect.
I posted a Trump video that is over 25 years old, before NAFTA. Trump was raving about this then!
Here is a great Trump video from at least 25 years ago. (1990) This content of what he is saying could have been filmed within the last week. Its amazing.
The show was called âThe 11th Hourâ with Robert Lipsyte.
Trump was talking about the money that the United States getting ripped off.

It sounds as though they brought Mexican workers to be trained, so they can return to Mexico to set up shop.
Because of NAFTA, its all perfectly legal, acceptable and ENCOURAGED. Its a trade deal promoted by....the Republicans signed by Clinton. but largely negotiated by....George Bush.

I don’t tweet.
Thank you so much! Worth the time to watch it.
This is great! Trump was saying EXACTLY the same things 25 years ago, EXACTLY!
This man is truly brilliant in his thinking because having common sense has become being brilliant ;) Plus he is prescient! I truly hope he is elected so we do not waste a once in a lifetime great leader.
GO TRUMP 2016!
I agree. You have a choice...20 pairs of shoes from walmart or 2 or 3 good pairs of shoes from Florsheim.
A really good TV in your living room or a TV in every room but a job at Burger King.
What do people really want?
I’v gone Galt, personally. I buy food and not much else.
Trump is the real deal.
At first I was a Cruz supporter, but the more I read and researched, Trump won me over.
>>And Patrick J. Buchanan saw this years ago. He was so right.<<
Ross Perot warned of the “huge sucking sound” of jobs leaving this country.
I remember when congress at least pretended to protect our industry. This is shameful.
“What do people really want?”
You know the answer.... BOTH - good paying jobs (or better yet “free money”) and inexpensive goods.
The great leveling of all the people of the world will continue and it’s unavoidable. There are billions of people all over the world that can build what we used to build, and they’re willing to do it for much less.
Their standard of living will keep going up and ours will go down until the two are more or less in equilibrium, unless you come up with things you can do better (more cost effective) than they can.
And if you decide to impose huge tariffs on them, then get ready for much higher prices... and retaliation, and a lower standard of living.
The west has been fortunate enough to rest on its laurels for a long time. The rest of the world wants to catch up. It’ll be painful in the short run, but good in the long run.
Standard of living is an interesting measure.
By definition, your future is describing a lower standard of living. Standards are:
income
quality and availability of employment
class disparity
poverty rate
quality and affordability of housing (For related reading, see Mortgages: How Much Can You Afford?)
hours of work required to purchase necessities
gross domestic product (GDP) (For more insight, see Don’t Be Misled By Gross National Product.)
inflation rate (See our Inflation tutorial for more.)
number of paid vacation days per year
affordable access to quality health care
quality and availability of education
life expectancy
incidence of disease
cost of goods and services
infrastructure
national economic growth
economic and political stability
political and religious freedom
environmental quality
climate
safety
Increased “Free Trade” has not made necessities cheaper except perhaps clothing. Look at food, healthcare, housing and the ability to pay for those with a falling or stagnant wage.
Most American’s standard of living is going down not up.

“Most Americanâs standard of living is going down not up.”
That is what I said. And it will keep going down unless we build/provide stuff and services that others can’t. It’s unavoidable.
“Look at food, healthcare, housing and the ability to pay for those with a falling or stagnant wage.”
You’re making my point. Those last two are about the only things that are not imported and can’t be imported. And given all the government program no one goes without them. And food would be a lot more expensive without the imported labor.
As for “necessities”, nowdays a smartphone a computer a wide screen TV are considered necessities.
Good post, from back in February.
Thank you.
