I wouldn’t go back to the headaches and lethargy even if I thought the statins were doing me some good.
a new study just found fish oils/krill to have no positive effect on cholesterol and heart health ...but it is just another study
For years my cholesterol level was just fine. But as aging worked its inexorable magic it started to climb, and when my LDL (bad) broke 150 my doctor wanted me to take a statin. I said no, I would control it through diet. So I ate all the right things and took fish oil and got a lot of exercise five days a week.
A year went by and my LDL was approaching 190. Total was like 240. I still refused the statins.
Another year went by. My LDL was now around 250 and my total cholesterol was over 300. The doc told me that current thought is that diet won’t work for some people. Your traitorous body will just crank out too much of the stuff no matter what you eat. He said take the statins.
I said okay, but it will be the lowest dose possible. So that’s what I did. And three months later my LDL was down to 100. It still is. For me a low dose of atorvastatin works just fine with no side effects.
