Any Republican candidate can do that as long as they have a strong immigration platform, i.e. no amnesty.
That eliminates a good chunk of the field including some FR favorites.
This is the year where the establishment insistence on open primaries backfires. Trump will get many crossover votes and tons of votes from people who never vote in routine elections.
It is selling for $5 Bucks. It was written in 1987, and while dated it reveals the Donald and you will see that he hasn't changed his approach to life.
It read it back when it came out, but bought a copy last week and re-read it.
Trump has true American principles, can't be bought, has a great work ethic, is smart as hell, and even back then, knew how to work the media.
This phenomena, known as Trumpmania, is something that has been in the works all of his life. It is not phony and the media can't crush him.

Let’s not forget Jamal’s dad who openly praised Trump when he held that rally for the families of victims killed by illegals. He openly endorsed him, and I think that also helped.
Not trusting Trump is a fair reason to be cautious.
However, ss someone about Trumps age, I find it easy to believe his explanation as to why he’s running.
I’ve agonized over the America we are leaving for my own children and grandchildren to live in and raise their families in. Most Freepers here probably feel the same way.
America hardly resembles the one I grew up in. It’s but a shadow of its former self, with freedoms, successes, and with respect from our friends, and fear of us by our enemies, all but non-existent.
Trump said he was running so that his family wouldn’t look at him, knowing he could have fixed it, but didn’t.
His own story of building the Trump Organization shows that he knows how to build great empires. Now he wants to make all of America great again.
I think we are but the lucky side beneficiaries.
I see some excellent comments here. Looks like some have thought it out a little.
What I find interesting about this story is that I have seen Trump say little if anything at all about blacks in his speeches. No pandering, no sucking up like other politicians try to do, nothing I remember at all.
Can’t remember who said it, but I agree it’s because he is simply telling it like it is without apologies. If you watch his face and body language, you get the feeling he means what he says and is sincerely dedicated to bringing this country back from the edge of disaster.
I remember one comment in particular, talking about health care. He said some may think this is not a very conservative position...but we have to also take care of those who can’t help themselves. We have to, we have to, we HAVE TO...
When he said it the veins in his neck were bulging, red in the face and he was hanging onto the podium like it was trying to take off like a 747, leaning into the mic... Who else shows that kind of sincerity and commitment, going as far as making statements he knows conservatives may not agree with?
You don’t have to be black, white or even green with purple polka dots to see that, it transcends race, color, religion, political leaning...
His comments about immigration and veterans as well are probably very appealing to the black community, many veterans are black too. As well as his promise to bring jobs back. In many cities, black unemployment is up to 30%, like Baltimore and Ferguson.
I think the main thing though, is just that he tells the truth without apologies and you can see it. So far everything he’s said is right as far as I can tell. Immigration, jobs, veterans, 2nd amendment, foreign policy, military...he’s hit the nail on the head every time. And no matter what race you happen to be, you have to admire someone who has guts enough to tell it like it is and thumb his nose at the establishment with no apologies.
I think blacks are also getting sick of the lies and corruption in DC as we are...and they see it’s time to change direction.
Two African Americans called into Rush one after another one day last week. Both want Trump.
I'm glad to read that.
Trump may be the only thing that will save the U.S.A. His election to the Presidency is our best hope.
His success is going to depend upon his resolve.
He can defeat the Media and its intellectual and moral dwarves.
America's future--America's survival!--depends upon whether he will.
