That was obvious by her appearance and attire. The Apostolic Pentecostal movement does not allow women to wear slacks, jewelry, make-up or cut their hair.
Well sadly this poor woman has done what the governors of at least every Southern state should have done and stood up to invoke the 10th amendment on this unconstitutional decision by the SCOTUS. She will now be marginalized and even vilified. Sad.
That she was a lifelong Democrat was NOT made public until right before she was released from jail. If it was, I didn’t hear it. Some of us have a job and and life; we don’t sit on the computer on or in front of the TV watching FOX News all day.
I maintain that if her oath of office required ending with the same phrase I once took the situation has different contexts. That ending phrase would be ‘so help me God’. I once had to use such as closing on taking a local government department head position. If such was not required I don’t see her having any right to prevent an authorized wedding.
I thought a judge would not grant a divorce if a woman was pregnant?

The larger issue than Kim Davis is the USSC making up law out of whole cloth and assuming the role of Congress.
She violated a court order. We can debate whether jailing her for contempt was excessive but there was nothing illegal about it.
I went to vote in the GOP Primary in 2012. They handed me a Democrat Ballot. I gave it back and said: “I want a Republican Ballot”. They said, “Well most local races are on the Democrat Ballot.” In a loud voice so everyone in the polling station could hear, I said: “I don’t care. I do NOT want a DemocRAT Ballot. The Party you vote for in the Primary is public record and I do NOT want anyone identifying me with the Party of Gay Marriage and baby killers.” You could have heard a pin drop in that place.
