I'll take a wild guess and say the fuses on a dropped bomb are more sensitive than those still mounted.

If that was the bomb that started the chain reaction, then perhaps it took precious seconds away from the fire suppression team to otherwise eliminate the cooking threat?

McCain made my excrement list when he wasn't booted from the Senate (along with Glenn), for his participation in the Keating Five scandal.

we had a crash and ejection of crew in an f-4..

the enlisted men put out the fire..

the officers went below deck and waited..

officers do not fight fires, they fly and die...

ships and air wing company fight fires....

no offence meant toward officers, it is just the way it is..

if you have not served upon a naval warship, shut your damn trap and keep your opinions to yourself, because they mean NOTHING...

That's a nice theory but the actual investigation showed that the old bombs cooked off exactly as expected, the fire safety officer knew about it and lost his life trying to prevent it, and the fuses had nothing to do with cook off time.
