Maybe in the next frame the mice have been snacked.

That’s what they all think, from the moment they are born, til the moment the last of their nine lives are gone.

I wonder if this is the same orange sweetie Catherine posted yesterday.

Maybe that’s why he’s grumpy, he’s in deep think pondering what side dishes to serve with those critters.

Maybe he’s thinking out his plan for getting all four of them.

Probably a different orange tabby. They are the basic cat type to which all breeds revert in a few generations.

Hate waking up with head mice. huh...there’s lotions for head lice...nope...don’t see any head mice lotions...maybe a barn cat might help.

Ungh...

Fireworks started at one point in the area at 2030 and went all over the neighborhood until 2330. I was SO tired. Then my phone rang at 0430...it was a wrong number. *sigh*

Welp. I solved the problem of the file frame. It came to me in the middle of the night, that I could use the bars that were in the drawer and just use one end of the frame to hold the other end of the “short” bar. Presto! Functional file drawer!

Congratulations on your brilliance! Now you can file! Thin and smart, a killer combination ...

Sometimes, all it takes is sleeping on a problem, in order to find a solution ... unless the problem is a bad mattress.

Innovation, that's the ticket! It's what our species excels in, besides body odor.

We’re fairly odorless, compared to many mammals. Since we’re sight-hunters rather than scent-hunters, using scent to communicate with one another wouldn’t make much sense.

WHY IS THIS THREAD SO POPULAR?

It's not.

Nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded...

I knew if I just let it alone, I would have the answer. My brain works like that, sometimes. Now, if my files over-run the two drawers, I can make a third (drawer) by assembling another frame set and setting it on top of the file cabinet. (Though I have no clue what I will do with the file sorter that’s on there, now.)

I went to Walmart to find some knee-highs and some panty hose, and when I got back, I realized I didn’t feel like going to church today. :o[

I feel like going to church, but it’s not time yet. I don’t feel like taking Frank and Kathleen, but there’s no choice.

92 degrees and 22%, with no breeze. The security lights are out along this row of buildings, and no one has bothered to tell maintenance about it. I will do that in the morning, since I don’t really want to talk to the answering service.

I may have to go lie down. I’m not feeling all that great at the moment.

78 and 76%, with occasional rain. We have some runny noses and general mopiness going on - probably allergies.

July 5th.... story #5 in the 31 stories in 31 days challenge...

I set this one, a little vignette, in a story universe I haven’t finished writing yet, lol. So it might find itself added to the longer story at some point.

"We’re fairly odorless, compared to many mammals. Since we’re sight-hunters rather than scent-hunters, using scent to communicate with one another wouldn’t make much sense."

Giggle, giggle.

Just because we're unaware of our odor, doesn't mean it isn't there. Consider the preparations made by deer hunters to avoid having their body odors, both natural and artificial, make the task more difficult.

We are sight-hunters, but deer are scent-carnivore avoiders. If they can smell us, they avoid us.

Also, humans react to pheromones as well. We may not consciously be aware of it, but our behavior gives us away.

Odors and scents are tricky things. They are more complicated than one might imagine. Consider this, for example: Dogs are exquisitely sensitive to even the faintest of odors, yet they willingly subject their digestive and necessarily olfactory systems directly to the source of exceedingly strong odors. Paradogsical, is it not?
