Uhura was one of the few who could wear red . . . and survive.

Nichols has said in the past that she wanted to leave Star Trek for Broadway, but was convinced by MLK to stay as a role model.

Do you not understand what God has given you?
You have the first important non-traditional role, non-stereotypical role.
You cannot abdicate your position. You are changing the minds of people across the world, because for the first time, through you, we see ourselves and what can be. Nichols remembers King saying to her.

I never knew her first name on Star Trek. Don’t remember anyone calling her by her first name ever.
To: Dilbert San Diego
Her first name was never used on the original series.

Such a sweet lady. My favorite character after Mr. Spock.
It didn't hurt that she was charming eye candy either.

he said Nichols had undergone a CAT scan and MRI
Why do both an MRI and a Cat scan? Wouldn't an MRI cover all bases?

You won’t find a bad word about her on the Internet, which in itself is an accomplishment for a public figure. Always very good to the Trekkies.

The CAT is faster and will let you know right away if the stroke was an aneurism. If nothing found, MRI would help diagnose an ischemic stroke. That is my understanding after my wife’s stroke anyway.

The lack of wrinkles strongly implies Botox, but she certainly has a sweet expression. I love the Lego mini-figure ring.

Her and Scotty.
I met her once years ago at Dragoncon and talked for a minute. Made a great impression on me. She laughed when I mentioned an Action Pack movie called Captain Zoom she was in. I believe she said it was fun to do. A campy movie.
Hope she recovers.
