No police officer would honestly mistake a pocketknife for a switchblade. I hope. Otherwise we’re all up sh*t creek.
It seems to me a knife is a knife. Why ban any of them? But even still, I can’t see criminal charges against a mistake. Fire them. Don’t arrest them.
> It seems to me a knife is a knife. Why ban any of them?
Well, that’s a good question. I don’t know the answer. Spring-loaded knives became popular after the Civil War with amputees. WWI too. They became illegal after WWII because of the same teen hysteria that tried to ban comic books.
The knife was illegal in the city of Baltimore. It was certainly illegal for a parolled felon.
Thanks, I appreciate that video.
I do not see anything in that video, however, that is unusual or would support a second degree murder charge or establish malicious intent.
It doesn’t look any different than any other arrest I’ve seen.
I think they caught the charges for giving him a “nickel ride” that he died as a result of.
I believe the prosecutor knows this, since one of the charges is “manslaughter by vehicle”
The prosecutor has a lot more information than we have. It’s my understanding she is both the daughter and the granddaughter of police officers, I don’t think she has an anti-cop agenda. I think she has a better understanding of what really happened here than people on this forum, armchair quarterbacks, and hipsters with signs who’s mom bought them a bus ticket to Baltimore have.
The “false imprisonment” charge is related to the unlawful arrest, even if the arrest was 100 percent legit, the other charges would still be appropriate.
“It seemed obvious to me from the edge in her voice that she was determined to get justice for the people i.e. nail those racist, cracker cops who murdered an innocent, young black man.”
You do know that 3 of the 6 are black, right? I’m sure she did when she filed charges also.
You are correct.
Switchblades were banned in 1957 in response to the fact that teenage gang members liked to carry them.
They looked "scary" so hence a federal ban.
Sound familiar?
I'm trying to think of a modern example. Hmmm...
Looking scary= nobody can possess one.
Even though they perform the same function as non-scary knives.
Would possession of a weapon (knife) also be in violation of his probation? I don’t know.
Black or white, the cops are her enemy. It’s the weakening of the police that is her objective. Like all in the black establishment they seek to make innocent victims out of black thugs. If black cops have to go down as well as white cops, that’s alright.
If everything was legal... why was he arrested and why is he dead and why have six officers been charged?
In my experience, police officers rarely get charged for anything. So there must be some substance to the accusations, especially since three of the officers charged are black...
Freddy was going to die anyway. One way or another. He was riding the horse. Never ends well.
